Hi ladies ... I am not new here . I had to get a new screen name cause my other one wouldn't work.. Anyway.A little background first. I needed a c/s with my DS. I went from 2cm to 10cm with in 3 1/2 hrs and pushed 5+hrs just to end up a c/s . As she was doing my c-section she said she totally forgot about my fibroid. Also he was sunny-side up. Baby was a big boy 8lbs 11oz 20in. My doctor said they don't do Vbac. She also said she didn't want me to have a TOL and then said my future children will have to be born by c/s and I can only have 3 kids tops. She also said she didn't want me to have a TOL.My Question is have any of you been in a situation like this were your doctor says NO but you did have a successful Vbac????
Update:My new doctor said she didn't think it was because of my fibroid. She believes it's more to do with my size and what size baby was. I am scared I won't be able to have a successful Vbac. She she if my 2nd child is big I would have to have a c/s but she would let me try and see. Please tell me there is hope....
TIA...
Re: A little info but also a Question...
There is definitely a chance, but it sounds like you really haven't found a good provider yet and that is huge. Even the new doc is sending up red flags, sorry. The fact that the new doc thinks it has more to do with size vs. baby's position just shows that the doc doesn't believe your body is able to birth a baby vaginally and will probably push for growth u/s and possibly rule out b/c baby is "too big". So I would definitely be looking for a new provider (again). Do you have an ICAN chapter near you?
Funny, my VBAC baby was also 8 lb. 11 oz. and 20.75 inches! Bigger than my c/s baby, too.
I don't have fibroids, but my c/s was similar to yours. I had a sunny side up baby and pushed for 2 hours and then had a c/s. My OB told me I shouldn't try to have a VBAC because I was just too small to have a baby vaginally, and if I tried, the same thing would just happen again.
I started doing some research on my own and got some second opinions, and I realized that there was a good chance my OB was wrong. Over 60% of women who had a c/s for CPD (pelvis too small) are able to have VBAC. And having a sunny side up baby significantly increases your chance of a c/s. When OBs manually turned sunny side up babies in studies, the c/s rate fell significantly, suggesting that the baby's position can make a big difference.
So I decided to try a VBAC. I found a new OB who supported me and I had a fast and uncomplicated VBAC--and the baby was 2 oz larger than my first baby. So it's definitely possible.
