Multiples

I'm back...with triplets...again...

For the regulars you may remember I lost triplets almost 2 years ago @ almost 5 months pregnant- the drs never knew why- just the risks of being prenant with multiples. I've since had a singleton- no problems. Now we are preg. again with trips. My RE wants me to talk to a specialist about reduction, I talk to my high risk OB about the whole thing next week.

The initial freakout is over now I am just numb thinking about all the possibilities. So I suppose I am reintroducing myself, Im sure I'll be back with all the Qs I had before but forgot the answers to.

Has anyone lost multiples and had a successful multiple pregnancy?

  • Congrats on your pregnancy, how exciting but I can definitely understand your fears. I am sorry to hear about your loss. I too lost triplets, but was only 12 weeks along. We did not have any testing done but my MFM suspected it was likely due to a version of TTTS as they were mono/tri. We went on to have a successful twin pregnancy and my little guys are 12 weeks old. I did have some complications due to PTL and shortened cervix but as I learned from my OB each pregnancy is different. I would suspect you would be very high risk, but given that you have had a successful singleton pregnancy hopefully odds are on your side this time around. Congrats again and keep us posted on how things are going :). (Sorry no format bumping from iPhone).

  • I remember reading in Dr. Luke's book that your chances of a smooth multiple pregnancy are much greater if you've already had a child. Even though you lost your first set of triplets, you successfully carried a baby to term afterward, I really think that will help you this time around.

Good luck, I hope everything works out for you!

  • Thoughts and prayers to you.  I know someone IRL who was pregnant with twins and lost them at 20 something weeks due to premature labor.  They have since gone on to have a set of healthy twins.  It can be done.  GL with whatever you decide!!!
