I know a lot of people think eating the placenta etc is weird but I have 2 friends who have chosen to encapsulate their placentas. They bring it home from the hospital and this doula comes to their house and sets it up to dehydrate it in their home. She comes back the next day and crushes the placenta and encapsulates it in pills for you to take daily. Both women have had really great experiences with these and feel less tired and more emotionally stable PP. I had never heard of it and will probably do it for my next but thought there might be others interested. I think it basically costs $200 to have it done. It's very beneficial. It reduces the chances of ppd related issues and speeds healing time, etc.

I would think that by dehydrating it you lose a lot of whatever it is that helps. I am crazy enough to try it (defriend me, whatever) but I wouldn't eat the damned thing without it being in a pill. I dunno. If I have another I'll research it more. I wonder if there have been any studies done on the pills vs. other methods.
