Fairfax OB GYN Reviews & Fair Oaks Delivery

Hi All,

I've been lurking here for years but you all always have the best advice and suggestions. We have a 19 month old already and we just found out that we are expecting baby number two next July. Any thoughts on using Fairfax OBGYN? Good experiences delivering at Fair Oaks?

My daughter was born at Alexandria which was a dump. Filthy post partum room. Literally dirty. Made my skin crawl. I also used Physicians & Midwives for my daughter's natural delivery. While I really like Dr. Andre and Dr. Tabibi and some of the midwives, that practice almost killed me when I had retained placenta (accreta) at 3 weeks post partum and they kept telling me everything was "fine." There's more to the story but the bottom line is I need a new provider. We just moved to Lake Ridge recently. Suggestions welcome.

Thanks.

Re: Fairfax OB GYN Reviews & Fair Oaks Delivery

  • No experience w/FFX OB but I delivered at Fair Oaks in 2009.  It was undergoing some construction at the time, but I think it's pretty much cleared up.  Overall experience was fine. Great NICU doctors and staff (Hope you don't need them though!).  Valet parking was definitely a plus in the winter with the snow, since I was back and forth there so much for the time DS was still there.

    Good luck to you!!

  • Congrats on the new pregnancy! I just had my son at Fair Oaks and had a great experience. The nurses were extremely helpful and caring, the rooms are all private and clean, and even the food was good. I also love my OBGYN group, Grennbriar. They are located in Fairfax, but might be a longer drive then you want from Lake Ridge. Let me know if you have any other questions, I would be happy to help!

  • I delivered at fair oaks Dec 2009 with Greenbriar and had a great experience. I also had 2 d&c's at fo and all nurses were fantastic! Congrats... Sorry IM no help with the ob specifically
  • I go to Fairfax OB GYN in Gainesville, and have only been twice so far after the birth of DD (HATED practice I delivered with, so switched prior to 6w pp checkup) and have had a great experience.  I went to Dr Wilson both times.
  • No experience with Fairfax OB, but delivered DS at Fair Oaks and LOVED it. We had a wonderful experience. It was during the H1N1 mess so no one was allowed in except DH, and I was really worried about missing family/needing people, but the nurses just made us feel awesome and were really supportive.

We are moving to Lake Ridge in January! I have taught there for 10 years and my parents live there, and I've been making the drive from Fairfax forever. I love my OBGYN, Greenbriar, and while the drive to Fair Oaks isn't 5 minutes, I was fully prepared to need to drive there from work last year - and the drive to Greenbriar for appointments is well worth it!

  • I use Fairfax OB/GYN and have nothing but praise for them. I actually switched from Greenbriar at 20 weeks and it's the best decision I could have made. For me, Fairfax seems to be much more responsive, and the I've met more of the doctors in the 11 weeks I've been with them than the 20 I was with Greenbriar. This is our first baby, so we haven't delivered yet, but we did the hospital tour at Fair Oaks and also had to go to L&D last week for a few contractions. The nurses there were fantastic and calmed me down tremendously. I honestly felt nervous AFTER the tour, but once I was admitted for those few hours, I'm now completely comfortable delivering there. Either way, I'd DEFINITELY recommend Fairfax :) (and I swear, I'm not biased - just a first time mom to be!)

  • I also used Greenbriar, and have seen them for about 5 years.  The practice is great.  The nursing staff is OK tho a little cold and distant.  The dr's there are FANTASTIC!!! I had a high risk pregnancy and needed a c-section.  They were there for me every step of the way.  I would also highly recommend Fair Oaks hosp.  The facility is great and SUPER clean.  Everyone is guaranteed a private room which is super nice.  The only flaw (if you can use that term) I would have is that we kept getting interrupted by the different depts of Fair Oaks Hosp asking us to rank their services from parking to food to nursing to facilities maintenance.  Even when I was trying to get some needed z's, I would get a **knock knock**.
  • I delivered both my DDs at Fair Oaks (in 2008 and 2010).  Had a great experience, though the second time around my post-partum nurses were a bit less attentive.  Could have been because I was a second time mom or because the first time I ended up with an emergency section and was in really bad shape the first couple of days.  Either way, my experiences were both good.  Love the rooom service feature.  No experience with Fairfac OB as I am another Greenbriar patient.
