Tall Parents = Tall Babies!!

I am rather short (5 foot nothing) and get teased regularly by my tall husband (6' 5"). I have two daughter by a father shorter like me. Normal baby stuff was fine for us.

The other day when walking with younger daughters stroller my husband complained about pushing because its so short! Well that made me start to think! I went on an internet search for taller strollers to accommodate my husband. I found this site to be more than helpful!

 https://www.tallbabystuff.com

It opened my eyes to the fact my baby could be taller than the average baby! I need to think more about this when picking ANYTHING out for our baby! If you or your spouse are taller take some time to read up on this topic!

  • Thanks for posting this! I am 6'2" and hubby is 6'5", so I'm kinda worried I'm going to give birth to a baby the size of a toddler!

  • What a fun realization :)

BTW, there are some strollers (the Chicco travel system is one) that has a handle that adjusts to different heights.  I love it b/c I can be comfortable if I'm pushing but my 6'2" tall hubby can also adjust for his comfort, too.

  • I'm 5'10 and my husband is 6'5.

Nolan was only 20 inches when he was born, but at 2 years old he's well over three feet and people think he's at least 3.

    He's going to be huge.

edit: we had to take this into consideration when buying baby strollers, clothes etc

  • Thanks for the info. My husband is really tall, and we got a Britax stroller to meet his needs. A lot of their strollers have adjustable handle height, so it can accomodate my sort-of-tall self and his really tall self.

  • Thanks for the info.  DH is 6'4, so we're hoping for a tall child.

  • Thanks, I'll check it out.  I was 22" and DH was 24" at birth.  I'm 6'1 and he's 7'3 so yeah, things get complicated for us.
  • thanks for posting! My DH is 6'6'', although he was a tiny baby. We'll see what happens :)

  • I haven't found too many differences with having a tall baby (except how ridiculously hard it is to find pants that are long enough), but I would recommend not getting the high weight limit infant seats. It'll be pointless :)

I'm just shy of 5'8 and my DD's dad is 6'5, she's a tall 6 year old. People often think she's 8 or 9. We never really had any difficulties with her being tall except for with pants! She is tiny around the waist and her legs are super long, so pants are hard to shop for!

  • Yup, my DH is 6'7". Get a stroller in which you can extend the handlebars! I'm not sure how this baby will be, but my son is pretty average (50% for weight, 75% for height) So tall parents don't always mean super tall kids. Smile
