Upstate NY Babies

Bottle question

I plan on BF'ing DD2, but of course I would like for DH or my mom to be able to give her a bottle from time to time. We used Playtex Ventaire Deluxe with DD1 and didn't have any issues with them. I like the way the Tommee Tippee ones look and I'm thinking of trying those.

Any recommendations?

Re: Bottle question

  • If she will have more breast than bottle I would just stick with what you have and get new nipples. Why switch unless Miss J doesn't like them? The TT are nice, very few leaks but do you need all new?

  • Personally, I'm not buying anything I don't need. So if you guys liked using the playtex, I would try those and see if baby does ok with them. We have about 6 different types bc it took a while to find one she didn't choke on. But basically, I'm just buying new nipples and seeing what works.

This. We used Tommee Tippee and were very happy with them but if you are BFing and bottles are just a back up, I would probably stick with what you have.

I tossed the old ones, the numbers on the side were pretty much gone. They were not very expensive, so I wan't too upset about it. I was thinking of just buying a 3 pack since I don't think we will be using them a ton at first.

Ah well then yeah....you need new! I like TT.....no extra parts and no leaks. Nipple, ring, bottle....that is it!

  • Oh, in that case, we really liked the Tommee Tippee. They do fit in the side pouches on the diaper bag, although I would guess that the shape of them means they don't slide in quite as easily as a conventional bottle. C was never directlyon the boob tho, I only pumped.

I agree, that's what we used with Stella and now Audrey takes them as well (most of the time anyway!)

  • Oh I read it like you still had them too, sorry! I guess I would just buy a couple if you are starting from scratch and see how you and baby likes them.
  • Glad to hear good things about them! I want something with a wider mouth, more breast-like if you will :-)  I think I'll get those, and if for some reason she doesn't like them, I can always pass them on to a friend who might be pregnant *wink wink June* :-)

I seriously have 2 brand new, never been opened TT bottles on my shelf I was going to get rid of. I'm a little superstitious about keeping around bottles when trying for #2, IDK. But anyway, you are welcome to them. I live in the scottsville/chili area or I can give them to June if I see her at swim to give them to you. Let me know!

That's very sweet of you!  Are you sure you don't want to hide them until you need them? I would hate to take them, then have you need them in 9 months :-)

I was never a fan of them. I most likely won't try them again anyhow. They are yours if you want them.

If you are making a trip to the west side, let me know and I can get you the pump if I'm not at work.

  • I figure (hope) we will most likely have one more play date before the babies come, so Missy if you are able to get those bottles to June, I will gladly take them off your hands. Thanks so much!! K- I can get the pump then too. Thanks again!
