PURE EXHAUSTION

Also posted in second trimester board. Looking for advice anywhere! Thanks

Almost 15 weeks and carrying twins. I have headaches, fatigue, sleepiness, body aches..etc  My first 2 pregnancies were a cake walk next to this.  I'm a nurse and work on my feet most of the day.  I will take any advice on how to increase my energy and feel better.  This is how I felt at 38 weeks with my others!  I drink lots of water, take my vitamins and have been eating well.  I have also had spotting on and off for a week that my MD hasn't been concerned about. (He did a pelvic and u/s)  I just can't over do it.  Advice please??  Thanks!

Re: PURE EXHAUSTION

  • You're making two babies (at once) you need to listen to your body and if you're tired then you need to rest. Otherwise you will end up with PTL and a lengthy NICU stay.

Other than that, you sound like your doing everything right, good luck!

  • Oh man...I can't imagine being on my feet all day. I am 15 weeks too, and have really noticed the exhaustion - especially on days where I am busy and more stressed at work.  Yesterday was one of those days. I am way more tired than I was during first tri. When I was at my parents for Thanksgiving, I got 9 or more hours a sleep each night but then would be sleepy by 2pm. It was crazy.

I guess I don't have any advice, just wanted to commiserate.  Sounds like you are doing everything you can besides not working. Rest as much as you can when you aren't at work.

  • I didn't really start to feel better from the morning sickness until about 16wks, so you may improve. Otherwise, naps are your best friend. If you can sleep for 30-45 min when you first get home from work, you will get through the evening so much better. 16-24wks was when I felt good, but I still took a nap almost every day. Hope you feel better!

  • Thanks.  Im hoping that's what will happen.  I will look forward to 16 weeks!!
  • I am a Kindergarten teacher so I am also on my feet all day. Recently I have felt like I have had better days lately, more energy? But only barely!

  • You may need to up your caloric intake a bit to compensate. I'm only 12w6d, but I find if I'm not on my eating game (every 2-3 hrs), theN all I wanna do is sleep. Try getting in a few mor snacks throughout the day. Hope it improves.

  • I was exhausted until about 19 weeks and I am still not 100%. I can literally sleep from 9p-9a and still feel the need to take a nap. The only advice I can give is to go to bed earlier and maybe try a nap at lunch time if possible. Good luck!
