Upstate NY Babies

I feel like I cannot win, regarding cleaning.

I feel like all I do is vacuum, pick up toys, do dishes, and repeat.  The toys don't really bother me that much because I know we have them so they might as well be used and it's just how it's going to be.  And we're getting a dishwasher in a few weeks so that will hopefully help.  But I vacuumed on Friday night, Saturday morning, and yesterday afternoon and the floor is already covered with dog hair and junk.  I doubt there's a solution except to vacuum more, I guess I'm hoping I'm not alone?

  • Definitely not alone. I've looked at my house lately and have wanted to cry. Seems like as soon as I pick up, scrub, vacuum, dust, and mop, everything is erased within an hour. I have so many rooms I want to declutter, and I feel like I'll never get to it because I'm always doing the everyday stuff.

Funny, I almost added something along those lines.  I get rid of bags of stuff and yet, it doesn't make a dent in the clutter!

  • I am ALWAYS cleaning and my house is constantly messy. Now that B crawls and Nat will soon I have to start being more consistent b/c i've had waaay too many close calls with little things in their mouths already.

  • I feel the same way. I try to repeat my "mantra": "Trying to clean while the children are growing is like shoveling while it is still snowing" NEVER ENDING!

    Love this!

  • Definitely not alone and I am growing more and more lax as the days go by in this pregnancy. When I am not pregnant, it is hard to keep up, but when I am, it is near impossible, because I am beat. I just can't get the momentum going to get the regular cleaning done, let alone the bigger stuff. Also, our vacuum was out of commission for a little bit and it was horrendous at our house.

  • You're not alone. I don't think DH has any idea how much I vacuum and I recently got on his case about helping every once and awhile. He still never vacuums but he got a bit better about helping with dishes.

  • It's neverending, for sure.  I pretty much deal with the toys and maybe pick them up once a week or so.  Our basement is somewhat clean right now since I was off on Friday and did a thorough cleaning on the house, but there's always something to do.  I'm glad you're getting a dishwasher though, I <3 mine!

  • I am with you girls, it never ends.  I feel like with the recent addition of christmas decorations, its just more things to touch, drop on the ground, make a mess of, and of course clutter the house.  I love christmas and I love the decorations, but I can't help but love Jan 1st when everything comes down too!
  • I love Abby, but hate the hair and mud.  I don't complain about it to dh though bc he doesn't want anymore dogs ever, and I can't imagine that!

Sometimes I wish DH wasn't SAH so that I didn't come home to a huge mess every day that I jad just cleaned up the night before.

I am on your DH's side. I will never get another cat, I hate ours. I think they might just be particularly awful as far as cats go but I just couldn't chance it. I thought I might like a dog once upon a time, but I have come to the realization that I just do not like animals in my house and they make keeping things clean that much harder.
