Austin Babies

Please tell me I'm not the only one.

I just have to share.  This is gross so consider yourselves warned.

The boys are supposed to be taking a nap right now, but I was hearing a lot of shenanigans so I went up to check.  Yeah, both boys were butt nekkid from the waist down.  They'd pulled off their pants and their diapers.  And as I walked up, I stepped in something wet.  One of them had peed out of his crib and onto his blanket that he'd thrown to the ground. Greeaaaat.  And then I smelled the poop...

In his crib were two gigantic turds.  And then as I looked closer, I saw that his sheets were absolutely covered in poop footprints.  Ick!

Why are they doing this- the stripping?  And please tell me it's just a short-lived phase.

Re: Please tell me I'm not the only one.

  • Spencer strips every single time we put him in footie jammies.  So we don't put him in footie jammies anymore.

And only once ::knocks on wood:: have I walked in and found poop in a bed.  Spence had his hands down the back of his pants and said, "I have poopy, mommy."  And he had gone ahead and drawn me a masterpiece with it too.  Sweet boy.

I hear that the stripping is just a phase, but we'll see, shall we?

(Cooper has yet to either a) figure out how to get his clothes off by himself or b) figure out how to care enough to get the job done.  Thank god for lack of motivation.)

  • Maybe they stripped b/c they had to go to the bathroom? Toilet training readiness?

    Dear Bump: You suck.
  • The good news- the pee and poop stuff gets better with potty training.

The bad news- My 3 year old (boy) still loves to get naked. All the time. We've established a "cover your penis" rule at certain times, such as when we're eating.

I agree potty training will help the pee/poop issue but Yeah DS likes being naked too. He likes to lay around naked with a towel after bath for a few minutes before he's ready for underwear and jammies.
  • My oldest used to draw on the wall with poop. Not fun at all. It was very short lived, which from what I've heard, is common.
  • I'm very thankful that only boy mommas are replying to this post.  Let's hope it stays that way.

My niece diddles herself when she watches cartoons.

Unfortunately I am about to bust this post wide open. Gracie has done it. When we started potty training, she started holding her poo until she was alone in bed. Then she would remove her poopy diaper. Yuck yuck yuck.
  • Leo and Charlie think it's hilarious to do this every morning. We've had one poop incident with Charlie, and there has been pee on the carpet too. I'm about ready to start duct taping his diaper onto him. Tonight I tried putting it no backwards. Hopefully that helps.

  • Emily is a recent stripper too Surprise

Abby's phase was fairly short lived and was NOT a sign of potty learning in the least. We finally resorted to jammies 1 size too big put on backwards. That's the only thing that stopped that nonsense.

Emily finally had a poop incident the other night too. DH heard her from her room "Help Daddy! Poo Poo! YUCKY!! HELP!". Then even after he cleaned it and got her in fresh jammies etc, when he went to put her down, she did the 'cat in water' baby thing where she wouldn't go back in her crib and climbed back up almost over his shoulder. He had to turn on the light to show her it was clean. I'm hoping it stops her from doing it in her crib but she still keeps getting naked and removing her wet/poopy diapers during the day. For her I think she is getting ready to use the potty as I can leave her naked for long periods of time and she has peed a few times in the potty but appears reluctant to poop. Like she waits until she has her diaper on again.

  • We had to ditch the footie pajamas a long time ago because my children have huge feet.  Joseph is in a 10, and Luke is in 9.5.  So while the buying them in a size bigger and turning them around sounds like a great idea, we'd have to buy them in 2 or 3 sizes bigger.  Tongue Tied

And I think it may be a sign of potty training readiness.  Hadn't thought of that, but they are both now peeing in the potty and wake up with not-so-wet diapers. We're too chicken to pull the trigger just yet.  Maybe that needs to change.

  • My first kid (girl), when she was 2 1/2, used to dig down in her diaper and, um, "fingerpaint" the walls, chairs, whatever, with poop.  At home AND at school.

    Grossed.Everyone.Out.

Only solution was to put a "onsie" on her and some pants until she stopped doing that.

(To this day, there are some teachers at her school that remind me of that..."phase".  *sigh*)
