I am about to get one and am unsure of what to really expect. What was your experience esp. regarding pain, discomfort and the growing uterus/ pressure of baby throughout gestation?
Also, what activities were you no longer able to do? Could you go swimming with a stitch in, etc.?
Thanks!
BTW when are you due?
Re: Do you currently have a cerclage?
Hi Buggles, I do not yet have a cerclage. I am now 7 weeks. I will fly from Pittsburgh PA, to Chicago on Dec 14, to have a Trans adominal Cerclage.
I am told there will be no bedrest unless there are other problems. There is also 95% chance to deliver full term. I'm scared and excited at the same time. Do you have incompetent cervix? Good luck
Actually, the MDs are not certain if I do. I lost MC at 21 weeks due to chorioamnionitis which may have been due to an open cervix OR I may have become infected which caused my cervix to dilate. So to prevent my current pregnancy from ending again IF I have an IC, 2 out of 3 suggest a cerclage.
I'd rather not do it if I am okay otherwise, but there's no way of telling. I am slowly becoming inclined to having this procedure after hearing opinions from my MDs and family. I'm kinda nervous since any future pregnancies will have to be performed this way and since I had a C-section with my 1st, future pregnancies will be performed as such as well.
Best of luck to you as well. Let me know how you make out. I'll go in this week to have it done.
