Finger foods-cheese ?

So DD has been on solids for a while now, and she a few months ago had started eating finger foods. She is 8 months old now and has basically refused purees since she now knows she can feed herself. Any finger food ideas for an 8 month old?

Also, I want to give her some cheese to try, do you just get the block of cheese and cut it into small pieces? Just checking....any info is great! TIA

  • My son was eating solid food by 6 months.. He loves cheese.. I cut it in small pieces so it's just big enough to pick up but not to big to choke on...

  • Cheese has always been a big hit here too.

  • My 3 year old loves to eat shredded cheese with her fingers. You could try it with your infant -- put the shredded cheese in a bowl so that she can pick up a few pieces at a time.

I wouldn't put it in a bowl, unless you want the bowl thrown across the room. Just put it on the highchair tray/table. Not that I speak from experience or anything.....Wink

  • One of the kids I watch is 2, which doesn't help you much in the age department, BUT she loves cheese. If you ask her what she wants to eat, it's usually cheese or something that has cheese in it. Her mom gives her the slices of cheese and just breaks them up. Sometimes she likes to bite off of the whole slice. I think your 8 month old should be fine. Just watch her and make sure it's small pieces. Good luck!
