NBR: Pregnancy Friendly Homemade Egg Nog

Someone posted how much the love and miss Egg Nog and since most is made with unpasteurized dairy products its hard to enjoy....

UNTIL NOW Thanks to my 80yr old Grandma from Michigan we can all enjoy.

Ingredients

4-Cups of Milk

1-Teaspoon of vanilla

6-Eggs (Separated)

1-Cup of Sugar

Nutmeg (optional)

Cinnamon (optional)

Directions:

Egg Nog:

In a medium saucepan steam milk, 3/4 cup of sugar, & vanilla. In a separate bowl beat 6 egg yellows & slowly pour a little of the steamed mixture in, this will raise the temperature of the eggs to prevent from curdling. After egg yellows are warm add them to saucepan. Simmer on low for about 5 minutes. Finally add a little nutmeg or Cinnamon (optional)

Egg Nog Moose (Topping)

Combine the 6 remaining egg whites and the 1/4 cup sugar in a small mixing bowl, with a blender or a whisk, whip egg whites till peeks are formed. Pour in to saucepan. For best results: *Serve HOT *Sprinkle nutmeg or cinnamon on top (once in your mug) *To spike up the holidays (for the non-expecting friends and family) add a shot of your favorite rum to each mug!

Serves 4-6 average size mugs

    I had NO idea we couldn't drink egg nog. I have been drinking it for weeks. Woops. Huh?

    if there is unpasteurized dairy products like raw eggs ... or unpasteurized milk then its not recommended.

    It makes total sense as soon as I opened this post. I just hadn't thought about it. I figured I was doing good since I didn't spike it. Lmao.

    Unless you're drinking homemade egg nog, you're good. Pretty much anything you buy in the store is pasteurized. Egg nog it up baby:)

    I checked the ingredients in mine and had another glass. I'm good. Lol! :-)
