I just returned from a trip and saw your post about cavities. We were in the same boat (no dental insurance), and learned DD had cavities in between her teeth (because they are soooo tightly spaced).
When we first went for the checkup and got the xrays, they quoted us $2800 for the work, because she would need to be sedated to do the fillings in between the teeth. I had a mini heart attack, and then DH found something that helped cut the price by half. It's NOT insurance, but gives you Aetna negotiated rates. You have to pay like $150 for the card, but after that, the dentists who accept it charge you only what you what pay if you were insured. I'm not explaining it very well, but you can read about it. It saved us over $1000.
