Dairy allergy ... Goat cheese?

My LO has a milk protein allergy. Is it ok to have goat cheese?

From what I've been told and read, goat's milk protein is very similar to cow's milk protein and many times has a similar reaction.  I wouldn't risk it.

only 10% of people that are allergic to cows milk can tolerate goats milk, says my allergist. Jacob got the same reaction from both, so i would definitely not do goats cheese.

I'm allergic to cow's milk, but not to sheep or goat.  However, I was tested for all three so I know that it's ok.  If he hasn't been tested, I'd be very careful!

Don't do goat cheese!  I just took my LO to a dietitian to work on some foods he can eat and she said goat products are a big no-no with dairy allergies.  They have very similar protein makeups.  If your LO hasn't been tested for it, then stay away from it!
