Hiding to poop?

Does your LO do this? Jace isn't potty trained yet (no desire) and has recently started hiding to poop. :)

In other news, WE KICKED THE BOTTLE!!!!! I just took it away last week and replaced with a soft spout sippy. He complained for two days but doesn't seem to think about it anymore. He drinks significantly less milk now. Good: we can start potty training sooner. Bad: he still doesn't eat so his caloric consumption has plummeted. He also has a bad cold so maybe this will change when he feels better.

Re: Hiding to poop?

  • Hm..maybe this is a sign that he will be potty trained soon. He is probably just realizing that pooping is not something that is normally done in public (Luckily!:)).

As for eating less I wouldn't worry. Takes time to get used to the changes, and plus maybe he doesn't have big appetite due to the cold. I bet he will be just fine.

  • DD#1 (7yrs old) did this! I always knew when she was going to poop because she would disappear behind a bedroom door. LOL I initially would try to catch her and put her on the potty but it seem to startle her and then she wouldn't go. THEN I would try to catch her half way through- same thing. And really, who wants to be moved while your pooping?? Stick out tongue All I can say is that she's 7 now and doesn't poop behind the bedroom door any longer. LOL  She finally potty trained around 3yrs old.   GL!   And Congrats on the Bottle Kicking!
  • Hooray on kicking the bottle.  Now he will not be taking it with him to Prom.

Sadly, if he is like his mama was, it will be a flask instead  :)

  • My son definitely hid to poop (usually under his sister's bed-lol).  He had no problem "peeing in the potty" but was afraid to poop.  Dr. told us it was normal, especially for little boys.  Infact he held it in so long he started to tear and pass a little blood.  I panicked of course!  don't worry though, I have now watched both of my nephews go through this same stage.  Try buying him "everybody poops" :-)  good luck

    Yes

And we have yet to start PT Embarrassed

  • I am feeling badly because DS has no interest in PT as much I would love it.  I am reduced to bribery with Thomas items. Both kids like privacy to poop..

  • Congrats on kicking the bottle! My DD will be two in Feb and she still wants a bottle with milk before bed (and a paci at bedtime). I'm hoping we can start kicking that habit in the new year. Sigh, not looking forward to it!

Yep, DS would go to the corner in the kitchen and when asked why he's over there he would reply "I pooping." Good news is that he was potty trained before he turned three, so maybe this is a good sign!

  • Ds doesn't hide to poop - he instead kicks us out of the room!  "mama- I'm going poop.  Leave the playroom!".

    Um, o.k.!  See ya....

  • DS goes and hides in a dark room. Be it his room the bathroom or a dark corner. I know he is pooping because he squats lifts up one leg and grunts really loud. I have trouble not laughing hysterically when I see him do this
