How long after your c-section did you start carrying your baby in his carrier? My DH is going back to work tomorrow. DS has a doctor's appt next week and I would like to take him in his carrier so that I can keep his canopy over him so that he isn't exposed to any sick people. I know they said something about carrying the baby and not the carrier when they were discharging me. But I can't remember if that was for the first week or until my six week checkup.
Re: When did you start using baby carrier?
If you are talking about the carseat, at 2wks I was poping out of the car and putting it in our stroller. I never carried the thing b/c it was a pain and heavy.
If you mean a sling, I started using my baby k'tan at 1wk pp b/c it didn't hit my incision at all.
If you mean carseat, it was 7 weeks for me. (Complications)
I attempted to wear him in a Moby at probably 5 weeks. It started hurting my incision area, so I stopped after a few minutes.

I started around 2 weeks out of nessecity. DH had gone back to work and he had a pedi appt. I didnt carry it long distances and I still dont...that thing is heavy and AKWARD!!
I know they give you "rules" when you are discharged, but really, life gets in the way sometimes...as long as you are not over doing it and are not hurting yourself.
We'll miss you sweet Debbie Girl (4.21.12) and sweet Cindy Girl (8.9.12)

I started using the infant car seat within the first couple weeks. I had a complication free c section and a relatively easy recovery though. And LO was pretty light, dropped to 6 lbs 10oz.
I haven't used a carrier, so I can't help there.
