Anyone else not getting checked yet?

I'm 36 weeks along and haven't had an internal yet. Am I alone? It seems like everyone else is getting checked and know how far along they are except me! I had my appt yesterday and all she said was that he's heads down but won't check me until next week.

My midwife wont check until I go into labour (unless I request it). It is different for every provider - personally I would rather not know as it doesn't necessariloy mean anything and can be discouraging or provide false hope.

I have not been checked at all. I am not sure my Dr.s policy on it...I am fine either way Smile

My OB doesn't normally start checking until 38 weeks. The only reason he started checking me this week (37) was because I had a really fast labor last time so he wants to keep an eye on progress.

I think i had one internal at 36 weeks. when i went in for my docs appt last week tues at 37 weeks and 4 days my nurse said my midwife won't check me unless i've been showing signs of labor or bh or things like that. well i have one stubborn little man who's deciding to just go along the way he wants to go

so i try to not let it get me down. i hit 38 weeks today and i'm trying to go with the flow even though i just want him here!

I could if I wanted to, but I don't really... I'm a little curious, but I'd rather not know instead of risk feeling disappointed if it seemed like nothing was going on down there. No news is good news, IMO!

I'm going to do the same thing in labor, very minimal checks and I don't want them to tell me unless I ask. I've read too many birth stories where mom is at like 6 cm and feels so discouraged thinking she'll still take hours, and then 20 minutes later is complete and ready to push!

Mine checked me at 36 weeks but wasn't going to check me today (37-week appointment) because I said I haven't really been having any contractions. However, she was a little concerned about the baby's position (possibly no longer head down?) and did an internal just to see if she could feel the head. Suppose it depends on the practitioner (I saw a C.N.P. today vs. OB last week)?

My MW is the same way, especially with first time moms who have had no problems. I don't really see the point in knowing where I am, I could walk around at 3cm for a month so it really doesn't help me if I know or not.

I was told by my OB that they will not check me until close to 40 weeks...unless I start to complain.

At 37 weeks when she had to do the swab, I asked her to check to see baby's position, so she did that. However, they don't check the cervix until you go into labor, or they begin considering induction. Soo, no more checks for me for awhile.

I got checked at my 36 week appointment on Thursday when they did the GBS swab. I was having some cramping the day before so he decided to check while he was down there. It was pretty uncomfortable but I wasn't sore or bleeding afterward. I think from now on they won't do an internal unless I ask and am in labor.

I'm 38 weeks and I haven't been checked yet! My first check is next week, just before I turn 39 weeks. At my last appointment my OB said I didn't even have to get checked until 39 weeks if I didn't want to, but since I've been having some contractions this week I decided I wanted to know.

I won't get checked until my due date at the earliest, and even then, they haven't said that they would, I'm just assuming. DD1 they also didn't check until 40w. I really don't understand why so many doctors/nurses check so early. It means nothing unless it's not just a regular healthy pregnancy.

I haven't been checked at all either and I will be delivering Monday. My doctor said there was no need to check me since I'm having a c-section anyway; plus checking the cervix can cause contractions.

I haven't been checked yet, even during my GBS swab.

I assume they will check me at 38 weeks and 1 day at my next appointment when I get my membranes swept.

I got my first one at 37 weeks 4 days. They hurt and get ur hopes up so don't be too eager

At my 36 week appt. earlier this week my midwife said I would be checked @ 38 weeks. She said that there wasn't anything they would do at 36 weeks anyway so they don't usually check if everything has been going fine so far. She said that after 35 weeks they won't intervene if I were to go into labor. As long as your pregnancy is going well they probably wouldn't check you earlier than necessary or as their standards dictate.

I had my 1st internal today but I am considered high risk since I had an sch in 1st tri & GD... sooo not pleasant.. hurts way more than when not preggo

I had one at 37 weeks because LOs position looked not right ... she couldnt even get to my cervix, it was tucked under the baby

It hurt so I asked that she not do it again ...

She hasnt for two weeks but asked if she could next week at my 40wk appt ... I agreed although Im not thrilled about it

I had one at 36 weeks...only because I was already half naked because they did the GBS test...plus I told her I had been feeling some strong BH for a few days. Normally they leave it completely up to you. I didn't find it uncomfortable at all (the baby is really low and I am already 80% effaced so I guess she didn't have to reach too far, but who knows). I don't think I am going to do another one until I have to.

They did a little check at 37 weeks for the GBS swab, but all he said was she was head down and her head was low. At my 38 week appointment, he didn't check, but they will do a full internal at 39 weeks (next Thursday). I am a curious person, so I am eager to know what is going on, even knowing that I could be a couple cm dilated for a while before anything happens...
