i posted about this months ago...but anyway, the eczema on my hands finally got bad enough that I have taken every water avoiding measure including wearing some nonlatex gloves for face washing, bathing kids, showering, washing dishes and using a bunch of prescription creams with white cotton gloves at night. Working beautifully except on my pinky for some reason. Argh.
Anyway, if the person who did this is around- how did you prevent water from getting in the gloves when showering? I tried hair rubber bands but they're too loose for my wrists (doubling is too tight) and water gets in a bit. I haven't tried real rubber bands yet but wondering if there is another secret...
Thx.
Re: the person who wore gloves for eczema...still here?
Hi all- sorry didn't get a chance to re-check this until now!
Thanks to the person who replied to me in the past- good point re the shampoo but I am also trying to prevent water, my derm pretty much said that water strips moisture terribly as well which is what I was trying to focus on - I guess I'll just resign to the fact that some water will get in...
2nd poster, hope you can use some of these tips- to be honest, I wish I'd done it earlier, I don't know why I was hesitant. I had trouble finding the gloves for sleeping and was looking around & asking about them and then when I went to get hte nonlatex ones for showering/facewashing, lo & behold, the white gloves were right next to them at CVS even though I had asked a bunch of ppl who worked there if they carried them & they said no. Sigh. I bought 4 pairs so I can swap out for washing every few days.
It has helped TREMENDOUSLY other than this damn pinky finger. I have to use an occlusive dressing on that to help- I put on the steroid cream, then some aquaphor & wrap a really big bandaid around the whole finger and leave it there for a full day & things feel better.
last poster- I also did not get this until the last year. I don't have scarring, as this is only only fingers/back of hands & the pinky is the only resistant area but I think I could see the pinky scarring a bit (the skin has definitely thickened)...not really sure what to do about that, sorry
Good luck!
