BFing moms - supply dip around 5 months?

So for some reason this last week, I am pumping about 1/2 as much as normal at work during the day :( DS is now eating 3-4 six ounce bottles at school every day and I'm only able to fill about 3 of them, if I am lucky. I'm dipping into my freezer stash and it's freaking me out...I wanted to be able to make sure that I nurse him at least through the winter/cold/flu season, etc.

I've started: eating oatmeal in the morning, taking more milk plus two days ago, and making sure I'm drinking a ton of water. I'm trying to add an extra pumping session at night after he goes to bed too.

Any other suggestions? I'm not seeing the effects of any of this yet, but hoping I will in the new few days. Love any suggestions you have, or if you had this happen around this age with your kiddo.

TIA!

  • A good, dark, full bodied beer at night always worked great for me (Sam Adams Boston Lager is what I drank), sweet potatoes (for some reason), and more stimulation.  I had a definite dip around 6 months, too.  Hope something works!

  • You may need to change your valves/membranes on your pump.  I noticed that if I change the membranes out about every 3 months, it helps.  For some reason they are very fragile and tend to tear easily (sometimes very hard to tell they have torn). I also snack on life cereal throughout the day, it is easier to stomach than the mothers milk tea :)

  • around 5 months i was really struggling to keep up. in addition to what you are doing, i rented a professional grade pump and that helped a lot. i ended up keeping it for like 4 months. sorry about no caps, i'm on my phone.

I did this as well but I also started taking domperidone. I also did a power pump at least once a day
