I have usually had a 28 day cycle when off BC. I been off three months and the first two were 28 days or earlier. It is now CD33 and no AF and each HPT is negative. I am considering making an appointment for a blood test on Monday if AF still has not made an appearance. I have not started temping yet, was planning on starting next cycle, of course I thought that cycle would have started on Monday.
I am a newbie here, but have been quietly watching the threads for a couple of weeks, so bear with me. I just wanted to get the communities thoughts on having a blood test done when AF is a week late. Any helpful comments are greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Re: AF is late, neg HPT, considering blood test. Thoughts?
I agree!
When coming off BC your body can take time to adjust and regulate. On top of that, sometimes you just have a wonky cycle and ovulate late or not at all. Even the most regular of people can have off cycles.
After almost 3 years of IF and a crazy roadside delivery, we are loving life with our second beautiful daughter!

"There will come a time when you believe everything is finished. That will be the beginning.
my first 6 months off BCP were all perfect 28 day cycles.
months 7, 8, and 9 were around 34-35 day cycles.
month 10 off the pill was a 51 day cycle.
just because your cycle was 28 days 2 months in a row means nothing. Cycles can and do vary from time to time.

Are you sure you ovulated this cycle? You shoudl read my post... "CD 35. Could I be ovulating this late?". I had a similar issue as you. I was CD 35 yesterday with no AF in sight, however I believe I O'd yesterday. I also just came off BC and apparently my cycles are still out of whack. I would encourage you to wait a little longer for AF or O, then seek your doctors advice after CD 60.
Good luck to you!
In the year since I've been off BC, I've had a 29 day cycle, a handful of 37ish day cycles, a 23 day cycle, a 56ish day cycle, and a 28 day cycle. Your cycle can change anytime without notice, unfortunately. I agree with atlb, don't waste your doc's time (or your own) going in for a blood test.
I definitely agree with others. If you don't chart, there's no way to know if you're late or not. You could have O'd later than usual. Especially since you just came off BC, it's possible for your cycles to be a little crazy.
I would wait another week and if AF still hasn't shown up, take another test.

This. If you are not temping, then you don't know when you O'ed. You could be having a longer cycler.
I would check out the newbie link at the top of the page.

I went of BC in July. August, September, and October, I had perfect 28 day cycles. November came, and I had a lovely 40 day cycle. I was not temping either, so I took a few pregnancy tests, and all were negative. AF eventually showed up.
If you are getting negative pregnancy tests, then you aren't pregnant. You probably O'd late, and therefore, your period is later than normal, but not late. Your body is still probably still trying to adjust after birth control.
Hang in there!

Sorry, I forgot to say that I used OPK and O'd on CD16 (past two months it was CD15). But, I will do my best to be patient and wait. There are times it seems worth *my* time and money to have the test done, so I can prepare to try again (and enjoy some wine in the mean time) but I will respect the doctors time, or in this case nurse's time, and wait.
OPKs only indicate that you MAY O soon. Your body could then not O for some reason, but gear up again and O later. It happens. OPKs never confirm that O has occured.

Falling in Love! November 2014
I love the women's center I go to. I had called before I posted this and left a voicemail with the nurses. I just wanted to find out when would be a good time to have the blood test done. They told me to go ahead and come in. Given my history and my age they just assume do it and put all our minds at ease.
The order was already called into the labs when I got there so I just when to the lab center, had the phelebotomist take the sample. Easy peasy, was out in less than 15 minutes and no co-pay for a doctors visit. I am so pleased with how well they work with me towards my health goals, not to mention it instantly helped my sanity to feel like I had some control.
Must be pregnancy brain. According to her ticker, she's KTFU. Of course.
Yay. Brainz.
