I have this car seat and honestly, the small sunshade doesn't bother me at all. If the sun is really intense I just drape a muslin blanket over top. My DD doesn't seem bothered by the sun and it's actually good for them to get the sunlight. I still like the seat overall.
I have the Chicco Keyfit 30 and do wish it had a better sunshade. However, I'm very happy with the car seat overall and the sunshade isn't that big a deal to me.
Not finding this to be an issue. You realize there's a flap inside the sunshade that pulls out to extend it? It's plenty long enough. I like that it's hidden the rest of the time so it doesn't get in the way.

I feel like a moron. We've been using this car seat for almost 2 months and I never noticed this. Thank you!!
To the OP, the sunshade is definitely fine with my discovery of the extension!

We have the Keyfit but not the 30, so our sun shade is small. But we've never had an issue. We drap a blanket over if we need to and the whole travel system works well too. We loved our Chicco with our DD and we are still loving it!

Thank you for posting this, I had no idea about the flap!
OP, we've loved the Keyfit30 so far, and the sunshade hasn't been an issue (at least not yet).

Awesome! I read this and lo and behold, I found it!
its very big in both of our cars, and we don't have small cars. Not the end of the world.
I don't think i have tiny hands but the button you push to release the carseat from the base seems far from the grab-by place so sometimes its hard for me to do. If that makes any sense.
Although, I think this is the best car seat ever and non of that or the small sun shade would even make me consider not buying this again. we are extremely happy.

It's not a big deal at all. We have the Keyfit 22 and there is velcro on the back of the canopy that releases it so you can adjust the angle toward the sun. I like that feature!

We found that the first week because I couldn't figure out what the thing was that looked like a moon roof!
Definitely no problem with the sunshade at all. I didn't even realize it was supposed to be "puny" because it's plenty big.

Ditto. Our LO is actually bothered by the bright sunlight (we live in FL) but I have a UV shade and also drape a receiving blanket over the other side to block as much as I can. Otherwise it's a great seat, I would recommend it.

best carseat out there. I don't mind the smaller sunshade - I use a blanket when needed.
Mine is older from DS (2years ago) so I don't think that mine has any extension.
