Where do you buy clothes?

I'm realizing my closet is really sad.  I only have a couple pairs of pants for work that fit and they are getting pretty faded.  My top supply is lacking also.  I've done a round of my standards--Kohl's and JCPenney, but I didn't come up with much (other than a pair of pants I really liked but sadly seem allergic too).  So, I need some new ideas.  I generally wear cotton twill type pants (Dockers, Lee, etc) and long sleeve knit shirts.  I'm also kind of cheap and like to stay $40 and under for pants and $20 and under for shirts.  Any recommendations?  Specific locations are great also since I know the selection tends to vary by location.  Thanks!

  • back in the day, i used to go to Old Navy and probably Ross or some place like that.  I'm a cheapie :)

  • I actually LOVE Victoria's Secret for work clothes.  They have fabulous pants & sweaters that are really reasonably priced.  However, you obviously can only order them online (can't try them on in a store), but their sizing charts are good and typically run true to size.

  • I buy most of my stuff from either NY&Co. or Banana Republic or Gap outlets.  They seem to be the main ones that have pants that come in shorter lengths which I need.  NY&Co. sends me coupons all the time and I generally stock up at the outlets whenever I'm there.  I occasionally find tops at Old Navy but their sizing is all over the place and totally frustrates me.  I just bought 2 tops there last week- had to get 1 in a small and 1 in a large.  WTH?

  • I shop a lot at Ann Taylor Loft (always on sale and with a coupon), and Gap Outlet.  Sometimes Old Navy.

  • I work at a college, so it's a little more casual.  I often buy from Old Navy, Gap, Banana Republic, Target, H&M, ModCloth, etc.

  • New York & Co and The Loft both run great sales. You can really rack up and signing up for their emails will get you some great coupons.
