Finalization Celebration

We're finalizing on the 12th (yay!) and I'm trying to come up with a good way to celebrate this wonderful day.  What did you guys do?

Re: Finalization Celebration

  • Just wanted to say CONGRATS :0) How exciting.

  • Aw! How awesome is that!  We actually didn't do anything, but I will forever remember opening the letter and the date it was opened!...  I quickly shared the news with our immediate family members. I think a dinner gathering would be a good idea...

After 7 years of marriage and 5 unsuccessful IVFs, we have been granted the gift of adopting a baby boy, born 4/21/11.

  • Congratulations on finalizing!  If I remember correctly, we adopted around the same time from the same agency.  We don't finalize until the 20th, but I'm already super excited.  Just out of curiosity, are you finalizing in your home state or where your DS was born?  We're going back to finalize, since we were residents there when DD was placed with us.  We still have some friends in the area, so we'll probably just meet at a restaurant to celebrate.  We're also planning on going to see the lights downtown.

If you'll be at home, I would definitely have people over to celebrate.  If you'll be out of town, you should do something special with just your family.  Whatever you decide to do, I'm sure you'll remember it forever.  Congratulations again!

  • We went to court with my parents, sisters, and cousins, and then we took everyone out to lunch at our favorite restaurant.  I had a cake made for the day that said "Happy Adoption Day, Zoe!"  It was a wonderful day :)

    Congratulations to you guys!

  • CONGRATULATIONS!!  That's wonderful!  And I love the idea of a dinner with family/close friends, too.

  • We finalized on  a Saturday (National Adoption day) and did Baptisms on Sunday (this was last year).  We had a bunch of family in town for the weekend just for us. So Saturday- we did court, our son had a hockey game, then we had a casual gathering at our house. Sunday we did the baptism during Church then big party back at our house.  It was a lot of fun! our house was stuffed with people but it was awsome to look around and see everybody that loves us and wanted to support our family!

Saturday we did pulled pork, Sunday a brunch.

    good luck & Congrats!!!

  • when we finalized we took BM and her family out to dinner with our family because our adoption is VERY open. It was fun, everyone have a chance to celebrate with us and we were a BIG family! We have actually been friends since we ourselves were in utero! Our parents have been friends for over 30 years!
  • Thank you everyone. We are very excited and I can't wait for him to have our name and know that no matter what he's ours forever!

We're finalizing in our home state. We thought about going back, but it was just easier to finalize here.
