I'm about 23 weeks along with DD #2. With DD#1, I had pre-term labor starting at 28 weeks, short hospital stays, terb, shortened cervix, bed rest but eventually induced at 38 weeks. With this pregnancy, I've had contractions since 12 weeks, terb starting at 21 weeks and yesterday was told I was funneling. Now I'm on bedrest with terb round the clock. My cervix is still long, otherwise I was told I'd be in the hospital. So...tell me what you've experienced with funneling. Can it get better..un-funnel? Google says yes but I question the reality of that, don't want to get any false hope going over here. I'm just doing everything I can to stay out of the hospital, I don't even want to think about being away from DD#1 and DH for that long. TIA!

Re: Tell me your funneling story
Amelia is going to be a big sister!
5 REs + 3 surgical hysteroscopies for septum/lap + 3 failed IUIs
IVF w/ICSI/AH & acu = BFP!, unexplained spontaneous m/c @ 8w2d (our little girl),
FET w/acu = BFP!, B/G twins!, lost MP @19w, dx w/funneling cervix @20w,
twins nearly lost to IC @21w, saved by rescue cerclage, 17P & 16w of bedrest

Thankful for every day
I was admitted to L&D at 24w4d with contractions and funneling. My cervix had been about 3.4cm but when I contracted it shortened to 2.5cm. The funneling subsided and I was released from the hospital, and now almost 10 weeks later, I haven't had any more funneling (that we know of, and I get monitored at least 1/week). I also had a +ffn on 9/23/11, and steroid shots for LO's lungs. The only reason I was allowed to leave was b/c of a long cervix too, as that is the main thing my MFM is concerned about. He doesn't really care how many contrax I have as long as my cervix is a certain length.
Like PP said, take bed rest seriously - the thought of being in the hospital for an extended period of time was enough to keep my butt on the couch!
Good Luck!

I had a shortened cervix (2.1 cm) and V-shaped funneling discovered at 30 weeks. Prior to that, my cervix hadn't been measured since 20 weeks, so I have no idea when it actually occurred. I was initially put on home bed rest, but later in the same day I started having signs of preterm labor (which I attribute to the stress of everything that had already happened), and ultimately was put on hospital bed rest for almost 4 weeks. At 33 weeks, my cervical length was down to 0.8 cm and the funneling had progressed to U-shaped; at 34 weeks, my cervical length was 0.4 cm and the funneling had actually lessened, supposedly because of the pressure of LO's head.
I am now 35w1d and holding strong on home bed rest. I am allowed to gradually lessen my restrictions over the next couple of weeks, even though I probably have no functional cervix left to speak of. So, in my case the funneling has never "improved," but I have held things off for at least 5 weeks. Whether this has been by being diligent with bed rest, luck, or something else, who can say. But stick with your doctor's plan and try not to worry too much! GL!
Sounds similar to me. First pregnancy I had pre-term contractions, many hospital visits, etc but was induced at 38 weeks.
This time contractions started earlier and I was put on 17P injections. At 23 weeks they noticed my cervix was shortening (2.8) and they saw funneling so I was put on bedrest at home and told to take procardia every 6 hours.
I am now past 34 weeks, not entirely complication-free, I've continued to have contractions and they have gotten more painful and worse. I was in the hospital a few weeks ago because my cervix started to dilate and I was given steroids for lung development. But, they didn't see the funneling again. I am now confident that I'll make it to term, despite all the issues!
Good luck
