I've had a couple dizzy spells this week and I'm wondering if this is happening to anyone else?
They have happened in the morning after I get out of bed, and I get light-headed and dizzy and then I start sweating profusely and my vision gets dark to the point where I feel like I might pass out. If I sit with my head between my knees or lay down the feeling usually passes in 5 minutes or so and I haven't actually passed out yet.
I read (in WTEWYE) that dizziness in the first tri can be caused by your blood volume being low as your circulatory system tries to catch up with supplying blood to baby. I'm not too worried about it now, but I'll definitely bring it up at my first appt next week unless I do end up actually passing out before then. But it would make me feel a little better to know I'm not the only one!

Re: Dizzy spells -- anyone else?
Because these dizzy spells are usually after you've been laying down for a while, sitting on the side of the bed and letting yourself adjust is the best way to beat it. Your blood pressure drops when you go from laying to sitting to standing normally. Take into account the changes in your body's blood volume and you've got dizzy spells! I wouldn't worry about this being r/t blood sugar since it resolves without eating something. Try to give yourself an extra couple minutes in the morning and it should help! Good luck!
I had this with my first pregnancy. I actually fainted several times will PG with DD, so it got a little nerve wracking. Mine was attributed to my sugar (I am not a diabetic, but I must have been borderline while pregnant or something). I carried jolly ranchers everywhere with me so if I started to feel dizzy I would just pop one and it would help... I also would make sure to have crackers or juice first thing in the morning.
GL!
I called my doctor in the morning and the nurse said that dizziness/passing out is common in pregnancy. She said it can be from changing positions too fast(like getting up out of bed), getting too hot and the blood vessels dilate, taking too hot showers, etc. She told me there was nothing to worry about about! Good luck. It was definitely a scary feeling. Just remember to change postitions slowly, don't just jump out of bed in the morning!
