Hi everyone
I just found out that I'm pregnant and I really want to stay in shape but of course to exercise safely for the baby. I think this means running and hard core exercise like P90X is out. So can you please recommend some great DVD's? I'd like to do cardio, some light weights, and yoga/pilates.
Thanks in advance
Re: Best workout DVD's for pregnancy?
I still run 5 miles a day and do p90x videos when I'm not feeling driving all the way to the gym. At the gym I lift weights and bust out whatever method of cardio I'm in the mood for- spin, treadmill, elliptical.. anyway my point is, just because you are pregnant does not mean that you can't do things like p90x and running, if you were doing those things before you got pregnant keep it up! Of course use caution- but my nurse said her daughter did crossfit her entire pregnancy.
I struggled with working out during my 1st tri (because of ms symptoms), but I jumped right back in 2nd tri and it felt amazing. I might run a little slower and I feel like I have to pee the second my feet hit the pavement, but working out is amazing! Don't believe the old advice or you'll miss out on some great workouts!

Erin O'Brien's dvd is pretty good- yoga sections in each, and a postnatal section. It is going to seem stupid and easy for you now since you are so early on, but trust me, months 6-9 you will laugh at yourself for sweating and panting to this. Also, I really did use the postnatal excercises and it was definately uplifting to do them since they focus on rebuilding your ab. wall, and you can't really do much right away. A lot of preggo exercise dvd are aweful and way too slow for me-this one was the best. I walked A LOT and tried to take the stairs everywhere for the duration of the pregnancy (easier said than done). Keep excercising! I did, and it made a huge difference.
