Stay at Home Moms

DH just asked if I need a full-time nanny.

He's actually taking this whole pregnancy thing a lot better than I expected.  We're both kind of in a daze right now.

We're hoping to buy our dream home in the next year or so, but he just asked if we should buy a little less house and employ a full time nanny.  Why, I asked him, would I need a nanny?  He said my last pregnancy (partial bed-rest) and the first year with 2u2 was so hard for us, he just assumed I would need full-time help.  I have to admit I'm kind of offended.  I told him I'd much rather have our dream house.  If I have a kitchen bigger than the size of a closet, and more than one shower, I will be a much better mommy.  ;-)

  • Haha. That is really sweet that he's thinking of you, but I'd be with you on the house issue! Though I probably wouldn't mind the extra help either. :)  Congrats on your news!! Are you still in shock?

  • It's so sweet of him, but I too would be a bit ill by the question... but knowing he meant it in the best way would make it okay. ;o)  Congrats again!
  • I think that's really sweet of him.

Tell him you'll take some help a couple of days a week and that dream kitchen as well. :)

  • The full time nanny would be tempting...
  • I'd try not to be offended - What a sweet man!

Hmmm...you make a good point.  I don't know, maybe I'm living in la-la land, but for some reason I think it just can't possibly be as hard as it was last time.  My one and two year old have started to really play well together in the last month or so, and I've been able to finally keep the house in order, cook, etc.  It was almost getting too easy.  LOL  Maybe I'm just not to have a relaxing life anytime soon.  ;-)

  • My DH offered the same thing when DS was little. I was going through a medication change and was struggling a bit. I tried hard to not be offended:) You could always get a mother's helper for a few days a week. I had a college girl come to play with DS so I could rest for a couple of months. It was great.

  • That is sweet of him to be concerned about you!

I am glad he handled the surprise so well

  • I am with you on the dream house.  I think that I would get a mother's helper to come in 1x a week and maybe a housecleaner to come in 1-2x a month or before hosting things at the house.   Especially for the first year of the new little one's life.
