Pregnant after a Loss

Top 2011 Names Announced

I really liked thinking about popularity for my boys' names when I considered them.  It doesn't matter 100%, but I wanted something a little unique.

(For the record, they were I think 40th and 20th at their respective times and I rarely encounter other kids with their same names).

Re: Top 2011 Names Announced

  • Neither one of my name choices made the list, which I love.. Except for the boys middle name. But my DD is number 15! However in 2003 when I named her...I dont think it was as popular.

  • I'm so excited! My girl name is #50 and my boy name isn't even on the list. DS1 &2 are both in the top 10. I didn't want a popular name and didn't realize it was until I was already attached to their names.

  • Our baby name is number 40 this year :( last year it didnt even make the top 100
  • Well my LO is in the 30's so I think I should be good! There is another March mama with the same first name we chose, which is why it is secret! :)

  • My boy name isn't on there, but our top 3 girl names are-- however they're in the 30's, 40's, and 70's.. I'm not too worried. :)

I'm like you, though, I want the name to be 'unique' enough where I don't hear it every day. I think i'm safe for now.

  • #1! Haha. I actually don't mind picking a popular name. What's funny is that there were 4 Ava's and 3 Nicole's in our birthing class but we were the only Sophia.

  • LO's name isn't even ranked on any list, but DS's name (Liam) is #4 this year.  Boo!  When I chose it in 2006 it was #98!  I had no idea it would get so popular.  You just never know, I wouldn't count on a name staying rare even if it is lowly ranked now.

  • My DD's name is 57th this year and our ds' name is 82...I like that they are both on the list but not super duper popular!

  • Luckily our boy name isn't even on the list, but I have no clue about a girl name...at least I can try and avoid any of these top names as I'm making my list.  The only name I really like is Ava, because it was my great-grandmothers name...but I wish it wasn't so popular!  Time to look at the family tree again!
