F/U: AW: Our new Stockings!

So I posted the other day asking for advice on how to personalize our stockings.  Tonight I did them, and I'm really pleased and kinda proud of how they turned out.

I took GoFurr's advice and ironed on adhesive (Heat n Bond Ultra) to my fabrics (found 18x21" holiday fabric at WalMart for $1.27 each!  So everyone got a different fabric pattern), then cut the fabric letters out on my Cricut.  That was WAY more of a PITA than I had anticipated, but I finally got it done.  Then ironed the letters onto the stockings.  I also took the advice of using Stickles, and used them to outline the letters once they were adhered to the stockings, just to make them "pop" a little.  I really like how they turned out, but the kids' names were kinda long and I didn't want to make any smaller of cuts since I was having such a hard time cutting the fabric as it was.  So I had to stagger the letters of their names which wasn't my first choice.  Anyway, this picture doesn't really do them justice.

Oh yeah, and we finally agreed on a name for the baby (but it's not Kellan!)  ;-)

  • Beautiful! Those are really cute :)  And you didn't have a difficult time getting the letters to stick on the faux fur? Did you sew around them or just leave them as is?

Thanks.  I was wondering the same thing, I guess ultimately it remains to be seen, but I was surprised to see that they stuck really well as soon as I ironed them on.  I didn't do any sewing - that would have been a nightmare because I pretty much suck at sewing - just the Stickles around the edges.  I say "remains to be seen" because I don't know how that bond will hold up over time... although to be on the safe side I'm going to store them in the house rather than in the attic with the rest of the Christmas stuff the remainder of the year.

  • Awesome! And I can't wait to meet Dawson!
  • Very cute!  And I love the name.
