Passport for LO

We are in process of getting a passport  for DS. Hopefully it won't take very long before we get it, because we want to visit my family in Macedonia in May. We should get plane tickets well in advance though, because the prices go up steeply as the travelling date gets closer.

Anybody got their passport recently? How long did the whole procedure take?

Re: Passport for LO

  • We got DD's passport back in March. We got her photo taken and did the paperwork at our local library. We had her passport back in about five weeks. Although, at this time of year, the process may take a little longer.

  • We applied for DS's passport in March for a trip to the UK - yeah, we're great planners Wink - and we received his passport in 6 weeks. Close, but still plenty of time. You should have plenty of time.

  • We applied in September for both kids and received the passports in mail after about 3 weeks (with expedited service). I filled out the forms on line and printed them out (took me about half hour for each kid). Then we went to a photographer and had the photos taken. Then we went to the post office with the forms and photos and sent the application in. Don't forget to make an appointment in advance at the post office because in most post offices they won't take your applications without appt. Also don't forget that both of you (you and your H) will have to go to the post office and, of course, your LO one, too.

  • Thanks for the feedback. The paperwork is done, pictures taken, now we just wait. As long as it arrives before middle of February, we are good.

  • We are in Canada and there is a local Passport office in our city.  You just bring in the app and your pics, they check it all over and scan your pic.  About 10 days later you receive your passport by registered mail.  It used to take alot longer when the introduced the passport requirement to cross the US border (like 6 wks) but so many people got them done then, that there is really no wait now.
