I heard back from our SW today & our home study is scheduled to happen in the next two weeks. ACK! I've searched through the FAQs & didn't see anything in regards to the home study. Anything I need to prepare for other than interviews, smoke detectors, etc? Hearing your experiences would be helpful for anyone that is willing to share.
I told DH his office is a fire hazard and would *never* pass the home study in order to get him to clean it up.
Re: Home Study Scheduled
Yippee! This is great news.
We didn't do anything to prepare, other than a normal cleaning, oh, I think we did stash some of our rather large booze collection. It was a bit embarrassing, lol.
So . . . hide the excess booze/artillery/porn/illegal drugs? Okay! I plan on happening to have a bit of food prepared in case she's hungry.
samk & missred --- I got your emails and have been absolutely terrible at responding to anyone lately due to the excess insanity in my life. I promise I'll be in touch!

You can always go college-style and prop that bed up on cinder blocks or milk crates. A bed skirt would hide it!
We plan to take the dogs on a BIG walk beforehand so they don't act like idiots while the SW is here. I know they'll think she's here to meet with them!

Good luck!!! So Exciting! I can't wait for our home study to get scheduled! Hopefully soon! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE what you said about your hubby's office - I am going to have to use that because my DH's office is awful! Definitly a door we keep shut. :P
Ha! I guess we could do that...I think I will probably get the real frame though, just in case!
Good question! I noticed there wasn't anything in the FAQ's about that the other day, too.
Our agency stressed that we didn't need to go on a cleaning frenzy and that they're not looking at that (of course we will, though). She mentioned they'd be looking more at things like making sure there are fire extinguishers on each floor and a first aid kit that isn't expired.
I'm glad she mentioned that because neither of those things were on my radar but now I'm wondering what else I haven't thought of!
Our meeting was in the morning so I made some banana nut bread. I offered her some and something to drink, but she declined. It is good to have something just in case, but don't go over board.
You'll do fine!
I, just like everyone else, cleaned like a mad person the first time around. It was totally unnecessary. In fact, the messy office most likely won't even be a problem, although I never would have let the opportunity to "force" my husband clean up his mess escape!
Just be yourself, and remember, they are there to help you get approved.
