Yesterday around 4 I went to the bathroom and there was a huge gush of bright red blood. This was followed by light spotting until around 8 when there was a very light flow for only a couple minutes. I called my doctor immediately who said it can be normal and to stay off my feet, and stay hydrated. I'm not happy that they didn't immediately schedule me to come in! The discussion with my doctor happened through voicemail so I didn't get to ask if I could come in. I plan to call here in about 30 minutes when they open to see if I can get in to be checked out. I spent the whole night crying while my DH googled. He said, from his googled findings, we have about a 50/50 shot. I haven't had any pain, and no clots, so I'm holding onto some hope there, it's hard though
Anyone experience any positive outcomes?
Re: XP: If you pray, please add my LO to your list...
First - I was praying before I even opened this so - check.
Second - YES. I scared the bejezus out of myself thinking I had lost LO. DH came rushing home from work and we were both bawling. I was brought in for an emergency u/s and....badum badum badum his little heart was beating away. 2 years later, he's a happy healthy guy!!!
If there was no cramping, it's most likely a subchorionic hematoma. Doctors don't get bent out of shape about it since it's pretty common (I have one this time, too) and they clear up on their own usually.
Keep in touch with your doctor. Ask for an u/s to check on LO.
If it is a SCH, I'll warn you that they take a long time to stop bleeding. Mine was 1mm by 2mm. Small, right? It took weeks and weeks. You could tell that it had cleared up on the u/s but I was still shedding brown (old) blood for the longest time. It was so scarring that I checked the toilet paper every time I went to the bathroom for the rest of that pregnancy and this one - even before I knew I had yet another SCH.
Prayers for your chorion to heal and stay tightly sealed and for your LO to be safe and sound with his/her little heartbeat going!!!!
A similar thing happened to me around 6 weeks. I went straight to the er since it was the weekend and I had just had a miscarriage the month before. Turns out baby was fine and it was just a small hemorrhage. I was done bleeding before I even left the er. About a week later I was seeing old brown blood on the toilet paper when I wiped. That lasted a couple days. I haven't had anymore incidences since then and baby is doing great!

Same thing happened to me, around 6 weeks, with my now healthy 3 year old
It's absolutely terrifying when you see that red blood, but it does not always mean m/c. Hang in there and have your doc do an u/s asap to put your mind at ease.
Same happened here...cramping and clots as well. I went a week later for HCG tests to see if they were still rising, then an ultrasound the following week to see the heartbeat, placement, growth and extent of the bleed (SCH).
We just had our N/T scan yesterday, and so far everything is looking good. Keep hopefully, keep your feet up, and take it easy
Prayer Sent!!
Oh dear. I hope you are okay. I have had a few days of spotting.
Im 10wks today. I got my first spotting about 4 weeks in, and again at 6 weeks (with a little cramping)
It's defiantly a scary thing to see. I feel you. My DH said something to me the other day, after I had a WAY more obvious episode of spotting. It was totally freaky, because there was a bloody/fleshy blob about the size of my finger nail, with more blood to follow.
He said that if you were miss-carrying, you would know it. Your body would be giving you some crazy signs. Your uterus would start contracting, and likely be causing some discomfort and pain. He is no doctor, but it makes sense to me.
After doing some reading, we figured that I likley just lost my mucus plug. (this can happen many times during pregnancy, and you body just re-generates a new one.) COOL... but totally, emotionally scary!
Hope that helps ease some stress.
