Quick Check Sub

Has anyone given into deli meat?  All i have been craving for months is an Italian sub.  I want to get one from Quick Check today for lunch, but i always feel guilty because I know it is dangerous.  Do you really think Listeria is that common in dei meat?

Re: Quick Check Sub

I eat subway on a weekly basis pretty much...I jsut get them heated.

  • So I asked my OB about this because, what I wouldn't give for a Subway sub.   Anyways he said that the "ban" has been lifted off of deli meat, but he strongly advises against it.   He said at his prior practice before opening his own, a patient of his lost a pregnancy at 15 weeks after eating a sub.   I want one SO bad, but I cannot do it.

  • I have had plenty of sandwiches and nothing has happened to me. I say go for it, and if it makes you nervous just make sure the lunch meat is heated up.

This for me too.. And I was given the 100% okay from my doctor. Different doctors tell you different things. If you are unsure, I'd heat it or check with your doctor.

Did your OB tell you that the woman contracted listeria or something else and that is, without a doubt, what killed her baby? If not, it is totally speculation. I got a flu shot 2 weeks before I lost Cailin, but it clearly had nothing to do with her dying. Totally irresponsible of your OB, IMO.

  • I would never deny a craving for MONTHS, that sounds like torture! I have had plenty of deli meat (and -GASP- tuna), with no ill effects. I think this is a personal decision, but in my opinion, I think it is fine in moderation. Someone else said something about this before- if you ate deli meats before getting pregnant and never contracted listeria, what exactly would the odds be of contracting it now?

And screw heating up lunch meat- that nasty.
