Rssn- tell me about your RAOK

I want to hear the story of you picking up the tab.  Where were you?  What kind of family was it?  Did you get to see their expression when they were told you got the tab?

Re: Rssn- tell me about your RAOK

  • I would tell you but I don't know what RAOK means.

ETA: HA HA HA! Nevermind. This was for Rssn. Oops :)

    I did, too! I was all, "well, it's kind of voluptuous right now because I haven't pumped yet . . . "

    Right. Dinner.

We were at a Panda Express (high ballers, right here, folks). A family of two parents and three kids (ages maybe 5-10?) came in at the same time. They were really debating what to get (it's not that big of a menu), so DH whispered that we should surprise them and pick up their bill. So we ordered first and got situated, and then when they were at the register, DH went up and said we'd like to pick up their bill.

They had only ordered two adult means to split between the five of them. So DH said that each kid should go back and get their own kids' meal. You would have though he told them to go pick a new car. Their new total came out to about $20, and each kid came up individually on their way out and thanked us. It was so sweet.

I had had a terrrrrible day, and it was the perfect pick-me-up for my soul.

That's it. When we grow up, I'd like to do the same thing at a fancy restaurant like Olive Garden.

    Dear Bump: You suck.

I love it!  Great story.  What a sweet family.

My niece's favorite "fancy" place is Olive Garden.  We have her birthday dinner there every year and she thinks I am super loaded because I pick up the tab.  Works for me.

  • We had this happen to us at Trudy's when the kids were younger.  The ROAK family was sitting in the booth next to us and we had no idea until we asked for the bill and the waiter told us they took care of it.  It was awesome and I will never forget it.

  • This makes me want to cry! Totally going to do this on one of the days!
