I have been reading all these posts about knowing when you might be having BH because the belly hardens up and then softens back up when it's over. Well, I have a huge problem then knowing what I am feeling because mt stomach is always hard as a rock. It never goes soft. Well one time about 2 weeks ago, for about 2 hours, it went soft and felt so amazing, but then it was hard as a rock again! Is this something you are experiencing too? Anyone? Or does anyone know why some stomachs never loosen up and just hold the TIGHT, stretching, hard form the whole time?
Re: Belly always hard...never soft!
You're not alone! I feel like my belly has be tight the whole time. Even friends and family that touch it say it's so hard (they've said this since my bump started showing!).....I'm not even sure I know what a "soft" belly is because I'm just used to the way mine feels. Maybe I need to go and touch another pregnant lady LOL
Maybe once she drops my belly will feel different? She's not really high (not in my ribs, I can breathe fine)....but she definitely hasn't dropped (OB made a comment that she's still high during my internal)...
I'm interested to know if anyone has experience with feeling BH with an already tight belly too! TIA to anyone who can explain!

Same here, When I have BH I can litterally see my uterus contracting and it lumps up. It is only in the area of the uterus, but the rest of my belly is always hard.
My belly is really tight all the time, but it is not hard like a braxton hicks. The only way I can explain is it you know when you arent pregnant and if someone punches you in the stomach when you dont expect it, it hurts like heck? Then what if you flex your stomach and someone punches it? It doesnt hurt because of the muscle. When I have a braxton hicks contraction, my husband can almost *literally* knock on it and poke it as much as he wants. It doesnt penetrate. However if he starts poking my belly when it is "relaxed (still tight/hard" it bothers me/hurts me.
I think b/x are really obvious, but maybe thats just cause this is my third. I can almost guarantee you can make yourself have one by having a good orgasm... go try it, lol.
Oh and if for some reason you actually ARE having a constant contraction, I would tell the doc ASAP. I read that that can mean your placenta is detaching from the wall and could be very serious to you and baby.
