Pregnant after IF

First Tri Acupuncture?

My RE told me to set up an acupuncture schedule for the entire first tri. I actually thought I was done with that once I got pregnant.  Have you guys done acupuncture and do you think it has helped with anything?  I was honestly hoping to be done with it but if my RE wants me to and if there's any chance that it helps with anything, I am in.

Re: First Tri Acupuncture?

  • I'm going Monday if tomorrow's ultrasound goes well. I feel like it helped the embryos stick, so I think it would only do good.

  • I'm doing it through the first tri.  Honestly I was sad it was over and was happy to hear they recommend it through the first tri.  The cost sucks but I really enjoy it, and it is supposed to be great for miscarriage prevention, symptoms, etc

  • Some people do it their entire pregnancy. I have still been going for the relaxation and I've been having indigestion issues lately so she's helping smooth that out. I don't think it can do anything but help so if you like it and can afford it, go for it!

  • I've been going to acu since July of this year once per week. I want to say it helped me get a BFP (along with the fertility meds & cleaner diet). Since my BFP, I've been continuing treatment once per week through first tri. Once I pass first tri I will probably go once to two times per month throughout the rest.

  • I go and will continue to go until I give birth.  I see my acu once a month, but in the first tri it might have been every 3 weeks.  She was very helpful and even helped me with some of the joint pain I was having (mainly in my knees).  I enjoy going b/c she helps me relax and even the 2 days of nausea I had (due to travel) she was able to show me the pressure points in case I was on a plane and was feeling ill.  A friend also told me that at the end of her pg, she told her acu that she was done (39 weeks) and was uncomfortable and just wanted him out.  She went to work, lunch and a meeting, that evening she was in the hospital checked in to L&D, baby born by next day.  She swears that he would have stayed longer if it were not for her acu.  Just make sure the acu you are seeing knows what to do to help you.

  • I plan on going.  I went during IVF and enjoyed it, and from what I understand, it can help with morning sickness, nausea, and later in pregnancy, breech babies.  I'm hoping it'll help with my fatigue.
