Too early for BH?

I've been having (what I think are) Braxton-Hicks surges.  They're mainly in the lower part of my belly below my belly button.  They're sporadic and don't last long at all, and aren't painful.  It's more of a "tight" feeling but it doesn't really hurt.

Could these be BH or something else?  Anyone else have something similar?

I have this exact same thing as you described maybe like 2-3 times a day. I'm definitely thinking it's BH, but what do I know, I'm a FTM :)

I guess it makes me a feel a little better that someone else has it, too.  And you're due the same day I am.  Big Smile

Sounds like BH to me.  If you push on your belly, you'll probably feel that it's hard.  Then when it's over, your belly goes back to being soft.  BH actually start in the 1st tri, but you don't feel them until later on when your uterus is bigger.  You're at a totally normal time in your pregnancy to be feeling them.

sounds like BH to me.  I started having them at 15 weeks with DD1 and 13 weeks with DD2.  Not too early.  BH contractions don't dilate your cervix.  They're just practice.

I've been having noticeable BH since like week 18 and I'll have one ever so often every couple of days now. It feels like tightening and my stomach will get super hard right at the point where it's happening.

They are completely normal as long as you are just having them occasionally. If they become more regular (I think it's like more than 5 or 6 in an hour?) you should call your doctor.

Drinking water also helps alleviate them.

That definitely sounds like BH. It's not too early for them. I started having them a couple weeks ago.

you can get BH as early as 20 weeks so I'd say it's entirely possible that's what you're experiecing.

Typically BH are a tightening in the upper part of your belly. The (unpainful) cramping felt below the belly button is usually from dehydration.  However, some say their real labor felt like extremely painful menstrual cramps (down low like that, but that is usually painful and includes discomfort in the back as well--plus they become closer together and are timeable).  BH contractions can start as early as the 2nd trimester; it means nothing really. I've had BH early with all 3 of my kidos and carried full-term with my first two (and am close to full-term with this one, too).

All of my BH with this LO have been very low. My OB did not think this was unusual at all. They were always high with DS.
