Dependent Care FSA?

Has anyone participated in this?

This is an option we have with my company's benefits.  Its sounds great and will save my family money.  However, I would like to know how it would impact our child care provider (non-licensed).

Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

Cheers,

Re: Dependent Care FSA?

  • I believe your child care provider needs to have a tax ID for you to use this but I may be wrong.

  • As long as your provider is paying taxes on her earning it should be fine. youll need either a tax id number or a social security number. they do not have to be licensed, unless they are required to be by the state and are not.

  • Correct, don't need to be licensed.  I do the full $5,000 each year, great benefit!

  • It shouldn't affect your provider, it will affect you more. My FSA is on my TexFlex card and if I expect to use my card to pay the provider needs to use a certain code that identifys themselves as dependent care providers. Since I use a home daycare I can't use my card. I pay out of pocket and then upload a reciept and get reimbursed within a couple days.
