Stupid question about birthday cake

I've never had to order a big cake before but now that we're in Mass with my GIANT family we're having a big ol' 2nd b-day bash for V.

Can I pick it up the day before and it will be fine or will it not be fresh enough and I should pick it up day of?

    It should be fine the day before. I make all of our birthday cakes the day before the event and they are always fine.

    Just remember you will have to put it in the fridge if you get any cream cheese or perishable fillings. That can be a PITA if it is a huge cake.

    that is what we do too, get it the day before. all of my family and DH's family are here so we also seem to have giant bday parties and giant cakes :)

    Should be fine.  I had to pick up DS's first year cake the day before his party because it was on a Sunday and the bakery is closed on Sunday's.  DH was kind of grossed out by the idea of a day old cake but everybody raved about it.
