Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Do you wake for feedings??

My lo seems to still only have about 2 hrs of awake time (at most) before he is ready to go to sleep again during the day. I have still been waking him up when he hits about 3-3 1/2 hrs between feedings. Should I still be waking him to eat or just let him sleep and tell me when he is hungry? I don't wake at night and he will give me between 5-7 hrs for his first stretch of sleep. I don't want to ruin that by letting him sleep too much during the day! WWYD?

Re: Do you wake for feedings??

  • I won't wake DS, but I'll encourage him to wake up if it's been 3.5-4h since his last feed. By that, I will draw the curtains, make a bit more noise, things that might make him wake, which they do.

Your LO is adorable BTW, such a cute picture!

  • I'm waking during the day but she usually passes right back out after eating. Can't seem to switch her days and nights still.

  • i dont ever wake her up to feed. As long as she is gaining wait like she is supposed to. Your LO will let you know if they ever need anything! The only thing i do during the day is at least to keep her up so she gets a good night sleep.(well encourage her to stay up)

  • At 2 months I would definitely be letting him sleep.  I don't ever wake my kids for feedings though, and I've always had good sleepers.

  • No way!  DD occasionally gets a 5-hour daytime stretch, and I never wake her.  It hasn't impacted her night sleep.  If anything, she sleeps so much better at night when she's had great naps.

  • I haven't been waking my little guy and he has slowly started stretching out his daytime naps to about an hour and a half and his awake times are starting to get longer sometimes he can go two and a half hours without needing to go back down.  He feeds roughly about every 3-4 hours during the day and does a 6 hour stretch at night without a feed.
