I was in the grocery store alone (no babies). Had a few jars of baby food in my cart.
An older gentleman (probably mid-late 50s) was stocking a shelf. As I passed by he moved to let me by and I saw him glance in my cart. He gets a big ol' smile and super nicely says to me "Ah, looks like someone has a grandbaby at home"

I can not stand it when people assume things by the contents of your cart.
Whenever I'm buying baby wipes for the car or cheapo cloth diapers to wipe dog paws with, people always have to ask me how old my children are.

I was like "WHAT?" No, that's for MY baby. :::insert exasperated not sure how to really respond laugh here::: Then I went on to say, "I have a couple friends who are grandparents this YOUNG, but I got a little later start".
then I turned into the next aisle and almost started tearing up. Seriously, I don't look that old in my jeans, converse, pony tail, and bangs. I only have like 3 strands of grey hair at this point!

I had one of my parents ask me if the pictures I had up in my office were of my grandchildren. What an ass.
I'm sure you do not look like a grandma and that man is just senile. In my case, I wasn't giving the parent what he wanted for his child's schedule, so I am pretty sure he was just trying to "get" me with his comment.

This exact thing happened to my mom when my little brother was about 3 or 4...I think she was....38 or 39 at the time? And no where near grandmotherly. Perhaps our society has become a little TOO accustomed to "teen" moms.
