Is DH going to your first appointment?

My first "real" appointment is likely to be scheduled the week DH is out of town (otherwise I would have to wait until the new year...SO LONG away, booo). We're trying to decide if we want to wait until he can be there (this will probably be a basic appt with pelvic exam, testing, etc). or just have him come to the first ultrasound for a heartbeat after that.

What are you and DH doing? Will the first appointment include an ultrasound for the heart beat?

I scheduled mine so that DH could come...I'm not sure if we're getting an ultrasound or not (I'm going to a midwife practice), but I really hope so!! My last pregnancy I started with an OB and she did do an ultrasound at the first appointment so I was really glad DH was there to see that. But if you know for sure that you're just having the pelvic exam and testing, then I don't think I would worry about him being there this time. Hope this helps!

heck yes! we lost our first baby after 11 wks 4 days (found out at our 12 wk appt, missed miscarriage)....and he went to both appt's with me...I cant imagine him not there with me at this point. I dont care if he has to cancel a mandatory meeting at work...he will be with me for every appt at least thru 1st tri....but he wants to be at all of them now more than ever so...yes!

Yes, DH will be there for my first appointment, we will get an ultrasound. After that, he won't come to any actual appointments, but will come for any ultrasound. He fell asleep at appointments with DD, so I'm not going to bother bringing him. Lol.

Unfortunately not. My husband travels every week so we knew it was going to be tricky. If possible, I wanted to get in before Christmas and they had one appointment available on a day when he's away so he won't be there. He promises that this will be the only one he misses.

unfortunately no. we tried to schedule it so he could come, but we couldn't. The only available one he could come to was too far away. They need to see me soon. hopefully he can come to subssequent ones though. He missed the first one last time too, but was able to make most of the others.

DH works an hour and a half away so he can't just "pop over" in the middle of the work day.. If I schedule early or late, he will try to come, or if he knows in advance we're doing an u/s he can take off.

My first appointment is in about 2 weeks. They said it's just a blood draw to confirm the pregnancy. So he won't go to that one. I'd like him to come to the first u/s but I don't know if he'll be able to do that with work unless he takes the day.

He will be going and the admin specifically said he should come since they would be look for a heartbeat (will be at 6 weeks).

Yep. He already got the morning off work to come to the appt.

Last pregnancy he came to the first appt (around 6 weeks, had ultrasound, saw heartbeat) and then the 20 week anatomy scan when we found out it was a boy.

This time I'll be about 7.5 weeks at my first appt. and he's coming with me. We'll probably have a dating ultrasound and see the heartbeat. Not sure how many other appointments he'll come to this time around.

Yes, he wants to come. My first appointment is on December 23 - the Friday before Christmas. He figures no one will be working that day, anyway, so no one will miss him.

Hopefully DH will be able to take off to come to the appointment, especially if we'll get an ultrasound. I don't know if I'll get one or not. I think I'm going to call and find out because I'm so anxious. I'd like him to come to every one if possible.

I think we are planning on him going to as many as possible. He missed only two appointments with our first, and I really liked having him there and sharing the experiences with him.

We rescheduled my Dec. 14 appt. to Dec. 9 so he could go. We are both really excited to hear a heartbeat. After that I imagine DH will only come to sono appointments.

My first appointment was just a confirmation appointment with just a pee test and blood work and DH didn't come to that but our next one will be at 7/8 weeks and we will be doing an ultrasound so he will be at that one and everyone after that.

Yes, he will try to come to them all. However, faced with having to wait a while I would probably keep the appointment if it wasn't an u/s appointment.

Yes, he will probably go to all, like he did when I was pregnant with DD. My ob's office is right down the street from his work, so he is going to take late, extented lunch breaks to come with me.

Since my first appt includes an us DH will definitely be there. If it's just a pelvic I would be disappointed but would rather get checked out sooner. There will be plenty of opportunities for your DH to join you at appts. GL!

If he isn't working he will. He travels out of town a few times a week & he's on call 24/7. So it's hard to schedule around him.

Yes! Hopefully! He said he's like to go to as many as possible!

Hopefully the first one will be at around 7 and a bit weeks before we head overseas for three weeks!

I wish he was coming to the appointment, I think I'd be less nervous and more excited. He's in the military and has basically no flexibility with his job right now, so I don't think he'll be able to come to any. He's going to be gone for about a month at some point, hopefully it won't be when we can find out the gender!
