I will eat some of it raw (I know it sounds yucky but I will do anything to avoid the feelings I had after I had my daughter) and will encapsulate the rest.
Our mw's and my doula all do it as part of their services.
I wish I'd known about PE back when A was born. I really think it would have helped with my multitude of issues.
I've encapsulated two placentas (just starting out) and both have said they've had great results. There are two methods of encapsulating so you might want to research what method is best for you. There is TCM which involves steaming the placenta with lemon, ginger, peppers, some herbs. The other is Raw. Both methods have lots of benefits!

I'm terrified of PPD this time around. I was super lucky with DD and didn't have any. But she was a super super easy newborn (still is as a toddler) And, I'm worried about, A) having two and what if this one is a bit more difficult (Hey, I can't be that lucky twice right?) lol So I've talked to DH, and he's on board too. I plan on discussing it with my MW's at an upcoming apt.

I was terrified of PPD b/c of family and personal history, so we encapsulated in hopes it might help. I have had only a day or two of very mild baby blues. I'm a believer. I'll do it again for future pregnancies too. In my mind, even if it's just placebo effect, I'll take it.
My Mom had bad PPD with my brother and I and I suffer from fairly bad PMS. I try and regulate it with my diet and exercise, but with a newborn, I want some extra help, so I will be doing the placental encapsulation. The women I have talked to who have done it have nothing but praise and in fact, a lot of the time, the women who I talk to who have done it are starting to do it as a service for others because they believe so strongly in it.
I was on the fence about it for a while, but one of the other threads I read on this board helped encourage me to do more research and I decided I'm going to try it. It makes me a bit squeamish, but I am concerned about PPD, and really, what do I have to lose? If it helps even a little bit, in my opinion, it's worth it.
Re: placenta encapsulation
This was asked a couple of times in the last month, so if you don't get a lot of responses you should scroll back few pages for more.
We did it with our first and I am planning on doing it again.
This has been a popular topic.
