We had our scan today and baby looked great. The tech had us look away when she checked the genitals because she had to type what the sex was on the screen. She then had us look away again when she had to measure the femur and again for something else. This leads me to believe that it was obviously a boy. Anyone else have a similar experience?
I did peek at one point and thought I saw the "turtle"...
Re: If you are team green and had your A/S...
Ours didn't have us look away at any point in time, but she was very quick when scanning those areas and wasn't in 3D mode. In 3D mode it didn't really matter because there is all sorts of stuff that gets in the way to where you can't really tell. DH swears he saw boy parts during the scan, but he probably doesn't really even know what he's looking at...
I guess that has led me to have the inclination that it's a boy! We'll have to wait for April to know for sure though!
Ours did not and yah, something was missing. lol

My tech didn't have me look away for anything, and she completely left the sex out of the report so no one in the practice would blurt it out to me.
If it were me, I'd be inclined to think it's probably a boy because boys can be so obvious whereas girls take a little more looking... but who knows? Maybe she was just being super cautious!
Our tech never had us look away and never measure the genitals. We got nice pics of both leg (crossed at the ankle) and there is no way to even see the genitals.
Also, I think if you heard typing, wouldn't they be typing the medical name for the part they were scanning? For my pics they put leg, but for the measurement she put femur. Plus I noticed that there were a lot of pre-programed buttons on the machine that they only had to push and it would put the whole word up there.
I'd expect them to type Male or Female, not Boy or Girl. I agree with jk, they were probably typing something else, perhaps even the particular measurement. I also agree with PP that they'd have you look away either way if there was a clear genital shot, not just if it was a boy.
Glad everything looked good on the a/s though!

DH got to watch the A/S the whole time but he's clueless on what he'd be looking for and he said the tech didn't type anything in when it came to the sex, she skipped that one.
They now even make sure not to show the "dangle" in the picture they print for you, but the clinic I was at was SUPER strict about not even being allowed to hint at the sex of the baby.
This was our Team Green A/S experience:
We walk into room and as I'm getting settled into the chair/bed I politely tell the tech that we want to have the sex remain a surprise and to not turn on the screen until she can make sure it's not a revealing position. (The only reason I said that is because a few days before my A/S I remember reading a post on here about how someone/someone's friend was Team Green and as soon as the wand came down on the belly the screen showed a very obvious penis) Anyways so after I said that, the tech laughed at me(rude) and told me the only way we'd find out is if she told us(basically saying I'd be to ignorant to figure out what I was seeing).
All in all we were never told to look away. My doctor mentioned the tech didn't even note the sex in my records/chart, so I guess she never checked. The most "risky" shot she showed us was when she was showing us the bottoms of the feet, but she used to wand just right to where that was literally all we saw.
I wouldn't draw that conclusion either. We were told to look away at the very end when the doc (we had an MD) did the lower spine/abdomen. I asked if he knew what it was, he said 'yes.' Only because I wanted to make sure what was there was in good shape!
DH thinks he saw a 'lack of parts' in the very beginning of the scan because the doc was caught off guard by where the baby was. I don't know whether to believe DH or not...Hmmmm...
I love being Team Green, but I love suspense and surprises!

It does make me wonder. With my son, the tech had us look away. She didn't tell us to this time (she knew we were Team Green). And when she was measuring the femur, I think I may have seen "the hamburger", but who knows.
The good thing about my practice is when you're Team Green, they don't write it in your file, so no one (except the tech obviously) knows the baby's sex.
