Here's the tally so far: MIL and both SILs will "have to get use to it since it is such an outdated name" and two of my best friends "like it, but really don't love it". My dad has already misspelled the name three times and DH thinks we are the most original people in the world b/c the name is ranked in the 800s.

I give all of the above a big fat .
Howonearth do you misspell that name?
Leave off the last letter. Every.single.time. He said he just can't understand why the last letter is needed.

Tell him it's kind of like leaving off the second "L" in your name. It's just . . . you know . . . the way it's spelled.
If it makes you feel better, FIL misspelled Ellie's name for the first 4 months of her life. I'll give him that her nickname isn't exactly in her real name (Avanelle), but if you're calling her Ellie, you can't really spell it Elle.
I think my dad is just on strike because he wanted me to name her the same name which my mother (thankfully) refused to name me: Debbie. (no offense to any Debbie's on the board, just NMS).
Well here's a big fat hint for everyone. But I misspell it all the time, too. I use too many Ns and not enough Es. Then again, I misspell everything.
I think it goes SO well with Gracie. Awe-some choice!
Do we get to take guesses then?
i was going to vote for Renee based on the above comment, but I would Sarah misspell that as Renne. hmm.
You are much quicker than the gals on FB were! That's it! And we just finalized the middle name last night as Jean, which is my grandmother's middle name. Doesn't exactly "flow", but we won't use the middle name much.

HEY. If you had told us it had a bunch of "Ns" and "Es" we would have gotten it faster.

LOL, plus it's hard to get to Renee once Agnes has been thrown into the mix.
I love that name. I've adored every Rene? I've known, though.
I would legally leave off the accent so it doesn't hinder her if characters become an issue. I would always write it with an ? though, because that's what makes it sound like Rhe-naye in the English language.
Oooh baby can I misspell Renee. In fact, I did it when I typed that and had to go back and correct it, LOL! I have a mental block with this name for some reason. That and I can misspell anything, anytime
I like it! I don't think it's old-lady-ish at all. It's my sister's name. Although, my parents' spelled it Renae. My mom knew a Renee in HS and everyone pronounced it Ree-nee. Over my mom's dead body would people call her daughter Ree-nee... Since we moved to TX, I've never heard anyone mis-pronounce it though. Tell your Dad that leaving off the last 'e' makes it a boy's name. He should be able to remember how to spell it after that.
I would also pronounce Jean Renee the French way, AJL.
When the e's and n's were mentioned, I thought it might be Genevieve, which is also an awesome choice. Our MN family pronounces DD's name the French way so she gets Zjohn-vee-ev part of the time.
My middle name is Renee and I love it! It also has the accent mark (I think on the second of the 3 e's?) and when I found out that my name had an accent mark I thought it was the coolest thing in the world! I think I was 8 at the time.

I really like the name Renee. One of my best friends is a Renee. IMO the name should have the accent mark. I have a student this year with that name and no accent. It drives me nuts.
And as far as the middle name...I am partial to it. What a lovely choice!

Me too. Perigrinne.
My mom's name is Jenae. She spends her whole life saying "Jenae. Like Renee. With a J. And with an A. Never mind. MY NAME IS JEN."

This is the big debate in our house right now. I'm torn. Help me decide, gals?

Jean Renee flows nicely and sounds very French. You could still call her Renee.
Though, I would be tempted to pronounce "Jean" the French way.
Renee Jean is lovely, of course!
Oooo sounds super fun!
It means lamb...LAMB OF GOD!!!
Simpsons, anyone?

Very cute! I don't think it's outdated at all, I really like it
I knew the most adorable Renait when I was an aide in a kindergarten once. I'm not sure why her parents chose that spelling, but she was super cute!
