will my child hate me for this old lady name?

DD and DS both have somewhat popular names, top 100 but not top 50. DS is VIII and his first name is an old man name but we call him by his middle name (DH and FIL both go by first name). Now that we know we're having a girl, we are leaning towards Vivian after my grandmother. It was #150 last year so not too uncommon (thank you Angelina Jolie) but it still sounds a little like an old lady name to me. I love the name but I'm still having a hard time imagining it on a baby. Thoughts?

I know a couple Vivians, I don't think it sounds old lady at all! To me it sounds bubbly and exciting.

I think that old lady names are coming back. If we have a girl her name will be Mabel after my great-grandmother. We are using a cute nickname though.

shouldbworkin, my niece's name is Lillian and she goes by Lily. No one's ever said her name is an old lady name.

Margaret (nn Maggie) is at the top of our list and some people consider that to be old lady-ish. I don't--I find it beautiful and at the end of the day, that's what matters.

Yeah, we would not use Leigh!! I don't think Margaret is an old lady name at all, I know a lot of Margaret's that are my age so I've always thought of is as a classic name. Love that one too!

It reminds me of an old lady, but that is because my grandma's name is Vivian...I still like the name though, but it does remind me of my grandma!

I personally think it's lovely. I knew a girl growing up whose name was Vivian and she went by Vivi (viv-ee). I thought it was precious! Go for it! Our old lady looks like she'll be Clara. DH vetoed my Teya, said it sounded like trailer trash. How rude lol.

I really think those names are making a come back too! I have a friend named Vivian a couple years younger than me, and I've heard another of my friends talk about "Vivee" I assume a Vivian's nickname.

We are using Zoie and it was DH's great grandmother's name....I never thought of it as an older name then I remember that and I think it's funny )
