Milestones at 6 Months Q

I was wondering what is your Lo doing? Crawling, Standing, Babbling, Eating (BF or FF), table food, rice cereal, etc?

As for my Lo he's wonderful and babbling (Dada, Mo (like more) when its time to eat, scooting/rolling all over the place, sleeping through the night (since 6 weeks), not on a schedule, still in the pack n play (need to move him into DDs room, LOL), and laughing at loud.

It's hard to believe he's six months old, time is flying (way) faster this time. Maybe it is because we have two children. I want time to SLOW down.

Thanks ladies!

Re: Milestones at 6 Months Q

  • Um, yeah. No babbling (just started saying her first consonant "b" the other day sporadically), no scooting, not excited about eating but puts up with it, just figured out how to roll belly to back today (keeps coming close on back to belly but can't get over that bottom arm), is on a very loose schedule, has never once slept through the night (we're still on 3x / night minimum even though she's FF), and she's moving into her own room at the end of December (has been in her crib in our room since the beginning. She's working on sitting right now, but still has to be assisted 98% of the time. So there's obviously no bragging going on here, but I'm not worried. She'll get there when she's ready and she's not horribly behind her adjusted age.

  • DD sits unassisted and rolls around a ton. She gets up on all fours and rocks, but isn't quite crawling yet (she can slide herself backwards on the hardwood).

She's a good eater. She eats four 7-8 ounce bottles plus three solids meals a day.

She sleeps from 7 pm till about 6 am, but that can vary from day to day.

She babbles a ton. It's the cutest thing! She has a lot to say, LOL.

  • My boys are the perfect example of babies being ready to do things in their own time.

N is physically very active. He has been sitting unassisted for a while, can scoot and military crawl and can almost pull up on his own. He makes a variety of noises, included babbling and some strange little clucking sound lately. However, he isn't a big fan of solids and really only wants sweet potatoes and carrots. He just started getting his first tooth over the weekend. He's more of a loner, and wants to concentrate and figure things out. He has been holding his own bottle for a while and tries to pry your hand from it when you feed him.

E is our social butterfly. He's a complete ham, squealing and smiling and babbling up a storm. He's also a fan of every single food we give him, including peas and squash and the like. He's had 2 teeth since about 5.5 months and also sits unassisted, though it was a few weeks later than his brother. He can roll both ways and can spin around in a circle, but for the most part is perfectly content with relaxing and playing with toys. He also can hold his own bottle, but prefers to just kick back and be fed.

ETA: Both still have a minimum of 1-2 wake-up and feed times per night.

  • DS wont be 6 months until December 12th but...

He can roll both ways, sits unassisted for up to 3 minutes, bears full weight on his legs for up to 5 minutes, bables with "buuuu" sounds, screeches, has been eating purees and oats for about 2 weeks, no teeth yet.

He does not STTN and is BF. On a good night he will only get up twice.

  • Lucas is army crawling everywhere. Just this week he started sitting up unassisted for several minutes.  It never last long because he just wants to crawl everywhere.

Here is a video of him crawling over the step in our living room... he's definitely mobile: https://tinypic.com/r/5jxusg/5

He babbles a lot in the evening right before bed but during the day it's still a lot of grunts and screeching.  His favorite babble sound is "ah-doo". At night he says it over and over.

He is eating solids and BM. We are doing mostly purees but I usually give him a few things like steamed carrot sticks to play with while I prepare his dinner.  He loves solid foods and eats everything. Some times I think I might be over feeding him.

He has two bottom teeth (got them @ 4.5mths) and has been showing signs of teething but I can't see anything new yet.

He does not STTN yet.  He will occasionally, like once every 2 weeks, but then it's back to waking up 2 to 3 times a night.    I am reading HSHHC, so I think we might start sleep training soon.

  • D is a crazy man. He started crawling 3 days before 5 months. He is now walking along the furniture. He can now pull himself up on a flat surface, like the wall. His newest thing is that he is letting go of things for a second and standing on his own. I'm talking about a quick second, like to grab on to something else, but he's getting brave. He babbles babababababa but that's about it. We're BLW (kind of) so he's just eating whatever I'm eating. BFing and waking up several times a night. Can't wait for a good nights sleep again at some point in my life.

  • Mine is crawling and pulling up.  He babbles a little but mostly blows raspberries when he is making sounds. He is eating some fruits and veggies.

And yes, the second one grows up SO much faster :(

  • Abby is babbling like crazy, sits unassisted and army crawls EVERYWHERE (she started on Oct 29th).  She actually pushed up on her hands and took a few forward crawls the other night.  Thankfully she has no interest to pull up on anything yet.  She will stand with support for a few minutes and loves to jump up and down even when she isn't in her bouncy chair.

She has 3 bottom teeth and eats fruits, veggies, cereal and baby yogurt.  Some days she gobbles it up and others she just has a few spoonfuls.

I cannot believe she is going to be 7 months in a week.  Time is flying by!!

  • B isn't really babbling yet - he makes lots of sounds, but not really consonants. He's laughing more often.

He's army crawling on all surfaces, and starting to rise up on his knees while he pulls himself with his hands.  I imagine he'll be crawling in the next month. He loves bearing weight, and sits up unassisted for minutes at a time, until something else catches his attention.

He just had his first tooth break through last week.

He's sleeping from 7:45pm to 6:30 ish each night.  About three naps a day still, including one good one and two crappers :)

  • Wow it?s so impressive what some of your LOs can do already.

Here is our situation: She can roll on her belly but never chooses to, sitting up unassisted only if she is on the bed and not realizing that she is sitting. She doesn?t like to stand up but therefore she babbles a lot :)  We?re not  having a tooth yet but she?s been cranky the last couple of weeks so I hope that?s the reason. She mostly eats formula but she really isn?t a good eater.

She?s been STTN(from 7.30 pm to 8 am) but the last couple of weeks her rhythm was off.

Oh, and she's learning some cause and effect stuff.  Like I'll munch on her hand and she now knows how to put her hand back to my mouth so I'll do it again.  She also tries to kiss my face, although she opens her mouth wide and pretty much eats my cheek, but that's okay : )

Oh, so that's what that is. And here I thought she was just trying to chew on me like she likes to chew on her playpen. With those bars she does the same - open her mouth and lean at it in slow motion kind of like a slow-mo Jaws attack with no teeth - thing that she does with my cheek and chin.

All of this exactly.  DS babbles bababa, dadada, mamama, and whispers to himself, which is absolutely hilarious. When he's whispering, he uses f, x, and g sounds.  We're doing half BLW, half purees, he usually gets one or two purees a day and the rest is something from what we're eating.  He just started STTN again a few weeks ago, but just cuz we got fed up with five or six night wakings and did CIO, which broke my heart, but only took one really bad night and a not so bad night.

  • Thanks for sharing what your Lo is doing. I enjoyed reading all of them. Just goes to show you how different babies truly are. My Lo started getting on all fours today, so might be crawling before or at Christmas (maybe next week at this rate, LOL). My DD was walking at almost 10 months.

  • DD is babbling a lot these days, mostly the "da" sound. She also loves blowing raspberries. She sits up unassisted for several minutes at a time. She loves to stand, and will last a few minutes by herself while holding onto our ottoman. She will also pull herself up from lying down to a sitting position with very little help. She has had cereal, fruits and veggies, but her favorite food by far is guacamole!

She will be 7 months old in a few weeks. I cannot believe how quickly the time has flown by!
