Upstate NY Babies

Tubes tomorrow:(

I'm nervous for this. Ugh. Pit in my stomach, losing sleep nervous. I wish it was just over. And it's not major surgery, I know that. And.... come to find out I can't be with her when they put her under anesthesia. I'm going to ask the anesthesiologist regardless (beg, plead, cry whatever it takes). If she has to leave me, THAT will be hard to watch. We have to be there at 6:30am so it will be done very early, but yawn.

  • Good luck! My dh told me that his son (now 19) got tubes when he was little and he became verbal almost right away!

Fingers crossed for B, let us know how she does!

  • I was a mess when DS got his tubes in.  A MESS.  He did great.  The only thing that was tough was that he wanted to drink.  We brought lots of distractions.  I was very emotional when they brought him to me after surgery and he was a little disoriented, but fine.  He was back to his normal, active self within 2 hours.  I couldn't believe it.  Good luck!  It will be okay!  Oh, and the bad thing now is that DS's haven't fallen out yet and if they are still in there in April (after 2 years), surgery to take them out!  BLAH!  At least I know it is more my issue this time.

  • Good luck! DD had eye surgery when she was 14mos-honestly when they took her away for anesthesia, she was fine!  Just an FYI-not sure if they told you this, but when they wake up from anesthesia, they are inconsolable. Its nothing against you, they just cry and cry and nothing makes them stop until they are ready to stop. Just though I'd forewarn you. They told me that ahead of time and thankfully they did b/c nothing we did consoled her for at least an hour after. She was just sobbing and very wiggly-couldnt relax, etc. After that she was fine!
  • She will be fine and you'll notice an improvement right away.  As awful as those 15 minutes will be for you, it will be worth it.  Good luck!
