transporting refrigerated milk

Hi all,

I know freshly expressed milk is good at room temperature for up to 6 hours, but how long can milk stay at room temp after it's been refrigerated for a few days and then warmed?  What if it's been frozen and thawed?  Thanks!

Re: transporting refrigerated milk

  • There are so many different opinions on this, but I would say the safe time would be 2-3 hours.  On all my different storage bag boxes they all so so many different things, so this is based on what my lactation consultant said to me.

  • Frozen & thawed you have 24 hrs.  Heated/warmed I'd only give a few hours. Once it's been warmed you shouldn't cool it again.
