Settle a debate Re: Money Shot

Can you settle a debate between DH and I on the word "money shot". One of us believes that it is a generic term and is used in all types of situations (i.e. gender identification on an ultrasound, getting a good shot while taking pictures) and one of us believes that is it only used when referring to the porno term where a man ejaculates on a woman's face. What do you think?

LOL. Too funny. I would say that it is seeing the goods and I am sure that my wonderful husband and his friends would agree with the other. I so wish that he was home so that I could tell him this and see his face to get the real response. Thanks for the smile before bed.

The first thought that came to my mind after reading the whole post was "Ewwww!" LOL. I'm with whichever person thinks the term "money shot" can be used in many situations, not just porn. I've heard it used many different times...... after my husband and I got married, when we walked back down the aisle as husband and wife, the photographer yelled for us to give him "the money shot" meaning the celebratory, arms up, type of photo op.

Originally the money shot was a porno reference but it has also become a gender reference too LOL...at least in my world. So yes, your DH is right.

I was also going to link urban dictionary! As far as I'm concerned it is a crotch shot, but a nice word. I would say the latter would be "c um shot" which doesn't need a nicer word.

Edit: DH just informed me of another use for the term money shot. and Urban Dictionary confirmed it.-

"An exclamation to be pronounced loudly on the basketball court whenever someone makes a 3-point shot.

As an avid NBA (basketball generally) fan - that would be where I most frequently hear the term 'money shot' - hence my reasoning that it is used in a multitude of situations.

I can see that it is legitimately used in ways not referring to j!zz on the face, but since so many people do associate the term money shot with j!zz on the face I choose not to use it in reference to anything to do with my baby. I don't want those two images mingling in anyone's mind!!

I can see both sides of this. I know that it is a common porno term. But I also know that people use it for more innocent purposes. But because it is associated with pornography, I would not use it in polite company and I would not use it to talk about ANYTHING having to do with my baby, like an ultrasound photo or whatever.

I am inclined to say that it started out as a generic term for many different occasions. But I believe it has manifested itself (somehow) to be commonly referred to and thought of as a porn term. Therefore, you will not be able to get away with saying it (with all good intentions) without a mental image of sperm all over a girls face being seen in the minds of the majority of your audience.
